Hey gang

Will be flying out of CNX and considering getting a re-entry permit at the airport. But it makes me nervous because if there are any issues like they're at lunch or not open...

So, question is: How reliable and consistent is the re-entry permit service at CNX? TIA for sharing your actual experience with this.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The re-entry permit service at Chiang Mai Airport (CNX) is generally reliable and open 24/7, ensuring that travelers can obtain their permits without issues. Responses from users indicate that the counter is consistently open, situated conveniently to the right of the passport control area, and rarely experiences long wait times. Additionally, permits can also be purchased at the immigration office located in Central Festival Mall, but only during their morning hours before lunch. If travelers wish for peace of mind, they can obtain re-entry permits in advance at the main immigration office.

If you are concerned, go to the immigration office and buy one.

It's never closed and it's on the right side of the immigration booths. I've used it often, as recently as last month, and never been a queue but I always go early then chill in the lounge until my flight. It normally takes 10 minutes if you already have the form filled up with the photo.

Peace of mind just go to immigration anytime before the date you leave and get a reentry. Except weekends of course and any Buddhist days!

Also the Immigration office at Central Festival Mall will sell re-entry permits but only during their morning session (before they close for lunch)

Was cool when it first opened but now seems to be just another immigration office slog. Or maybe the new appointment system makes it easier?

It’s real easy to do at the CNX airport. I’ve never seen the counter closed. Right before you go through immigration go to your right to see the counter.

long before you get to the airport. Like months before, if you wish, and you don’t need to renew it until you renew your long stay visa

I just called the Chiang Mai airport customer service line, they speak English just fine if you press 9 for English ;)

She she said after you check in with your airline you tell passport control you need a re-entry permit and that the counter is open
