Hi I'm currently on a 60 day visa issued from the UK. How many days notice left would I need to apply for extension if stay based on retirement? I live in Rawai, would Chalong be the immigration office I would deal with, what paperwork would I need to submit? TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for an extension based on retirement in Thailand, you should have at least 21 days left on your current 60-day visa. The main immigration office to handle retirement visa extensions is located in Phuket Town, specifically in Room 103. For a retirement visa (Non-Immigrant O), you will need to have proof of funds in your bank account and other necessary documentation ready. It is advisable to apply early to avoid any issues with missing paperwork, as it's easier to resolve before your visa expires.

You already need the money in the bank with proof of transfer from abroad.

In Bangkok Bangkok you need 15 days.

differ in other places. Do it as soon as possible, it's easy that something is missing and you need to come back. So do it as soon as money is transferred. Etc

If your on TR60 visa thats extended by 30 days only, retirement is a different visa non imm O visa that you need to apply for while in Thailand and meet the requirements money in the bank etc.

You’d need 21 days left on your current stamp. If you haven’t downs an extension already you can get a 30 day extension first.

You use the main immigration office on Phuket town for retirement extensions. Room 103. Just past the drive through window.

I am on day 15 of my initial 60 day tourist visa. Do I apply for a 30 day tourist extension, then another extension based on retirement or straight to extension based on retirement?

@Mark ******
personally I’d go straight for the Non O. It’s not an extension it’s an actual visa issued in country. You’ll get 90 days from it. When that’s nearing the end you apply for the year extension.

Good call, do I need Thai bank account details whilst applying for the Non-O. It seems to be very difficult if you are presently on a tourist visa

Yes you need a bank account in your name only and have transferred 800k from abroad.

Seemingly Bangkok Bank in Karon will open an account for you on a tourist visa with a letter of residence (which you get from immigration).
