TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a Thai business visa from the UK, you need to show evidence of adequate finances, which includes having at least 20,000 Baht per person or 40,000 Baht per family. It's important to note that a letter of invitation is also required, and owning a company in Thailand does not automatically grant you a visa or work permit. There has been some confusion about the differences between a business visa and a work permit, which are distinct processes.
You should get TM10 from labor office and then you appliy from there

don't think you can do that from outside thailand unless you have the paper from the labour department to show you've already applied for the work permit.

how stringent are they? im a couple hundred short for a tourist visa, until next week. Think theyll reject an application on that basis?

Ownership of a Thai company does not in itself lead to either visa or work permit. If it were that simple - many would just incorporate something.

I just hope nobody is confusing Business Visa with Work Permit - they are not the same thing.
