TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering applying for a retirement visa in Thailand after having a 12-month Volunteer NON-O visa and recently obtaining a tourist visa. A comment suggests that as long as the previous Volunteer NON-O visa was officially canceled (not just by exiting the country), applying for a retirement visa should not pose any issues. It also highlights the importance of having enough time left on the tourist visa before applying.

if you correctly cancelled that volunteer visa (from what ever immigration office that issued it) you should have no issue. remember just stamping out on an extension does NOT officially cancel it

Remember most offices require a minimum of 15 days left on your stamp to apply for the in country 90 day Non-O visa (Chiang Mai requires 21 days left) so time is of the essence in your plan to apply .

Thank you very much for the information! I really appreciate it. Yes, I did buy a tourist visa from Thai consulate in Laos before I back to Thailand , 60 days stay + 30 days extension.

good, at least that buys you time to get things sorted, so you can apply for the 90 day Non-O. Just go to your immigration office BEFORE you're going to apply for the Non-O 90 day visa and see what they say, believe me if there's an issue with that volunteer visa, they'll tell you about it right off. If don't say anything about it, you're good to go forward with the application

what you should have done as soon as you got back into thailand and back at your primary address (the address you're going to use when you apply for your 90 day Non-O and then the retirement extension) IS go to your immigration office and file a TM30 <- notification of foreigner in residence form. This is especially important IF that volunteer visa/extension was issued from a province you don't live in.
