TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, while there is no official limit on how many times you can use the 60-day visa exception with a 30-day extension, most anecdotal evidence suggests that many travelers typically do this only twice within a 12-month period. Immigration officers may start scrutinizing visa-exempt entries after two consecutive uses, as they may suspect longer-term intentions of stay. Factors such as traveling patterns and individual immigration officer discretion play significant roles in determining if further entries will be allowed without complications.
Until a Immigration Officer tells you have reached the limit. !!!

It depends if you fit their profiling and stereotyping, in which case it can be just once, as they determined you are trying to stay here long term as a tourist, and they do not like those people at all. If you have dreadlocks and a backpack, then expect a rejection the second time. Regular tourists don't get the 30 day extension.
I think if your entire intent is to complete travel within 9 months, itās great. Otherwise, why bother. It can just be accomplished with border bounces anyway
then you have to learn to be smart. Use border bounce agencies for land entry (or known 'soft' spots) and use FastTrack entry at airports if your Thailand entry history is dubious. If your situation fits a visa... great - get one. If it doesn't you need to adapt
your profile says you are retired you can more than afford the cost to be here. Im retired as well and did my planning before I came here and executing that plan. We are guest in their house respect it. Intgerty is doing the right thing legally and morally.
yes. Iām long retired. So none of this affects me. I donāt ever go to immigration.
You are confusing your western perception of ārespect, and integrityā with Thai laws.
Letās be clear, people doing multiple visa exempt entries annually are breaking no laws. And no rules. They are effectively using the system provided.
no im not confusing anything and that is why people are being stopped from border runs cause random IO are saying enough you are too stupid to see that honor and integrity is universal. This isnt my issue you were not raised to be a respecting himan being. If somekne wishes to keep doing border runs thats on them. Ive seen many posts in this group where people are being told this is the laldt time they can use visa exempt after x amount of times. I Been retired since i was 37 and planned my stay here for a few years and finally made it over prepared. You are confusing your own selfless needs cause you and others got away with abusing border runs cause immigration didnt care. Now they seem to care. My point is pay the fees If someone wishes to stay here longer period of time and integrity is doing the right thing legally and morally which means learn thailand laws and follow them. You sir are confused with greed and too stuck up
lol. Sort yourself out man. You think you are standing on some sort of morally high soapbox of integrity šš. You are confused af about āthe right thing legally and morallyā. Itās the system they built. Nothing more. Has nothing at all to do with integrity.
There is a system in place. Use it as you see fit. Same as in your own shitty country. Which you left for a better life here. You sir, need to sort yourself out and quit bullshitting people here about visas and pretending you have a grasp on the system.
And getting kicked out of the army isnāt āretiringā. Itās being forcibly unemployed
I wanted to make sure you seen this specifically as I said again due to arrogant people like you abusing the tourist exempt visa causing issues we are now seeing this
I didnt leave for a better im here to learn I own property back home check your self. You are the one advocating abusing a loophole that an IO can stop at will. Im saying protect yourself you have no clue why im here I didnt leave my country for a better life im a student of life and continue to learn and grow you maybe here for a better life. My life is just fine it is as I see fit. You come from a country the depends on wages of working americans to even exist oak leaf so I wouldnt be so quick to say shit when your country economy only existed off 200% tariffs from the US your countries liberal policies have left it in ruin. Id double check yourself real damn quick
actually it does very much matter how smart you are. Because if you are smart, you never place yourself in position to be rejected. I outlined that already.
There is no such thing as āabusingā the system. The Thai government has constructed a system that works for them. Use it as you see fit. There is purposefully no limit on entries.
āPeople like meā lol. You have not a clue.
And it has absolutely fuck all to do with āhonour and integrity.ā It had to do with learning the system. And one day, when you have saved a few Pennieās to travel a lot, you will understand that tourism has a far wider scope and scale that some peopleās perspective allows
again doesn't matter how smart you are if the IO says no it ends stop abusing the system and dancing in the Grey areas. People like you abusing a privledge messes things up for people who do it right and want to enjoy visa exempt.
If you are here to be a tourist then be one. If you are here for long term stay then pay for the visa. That simple called having honor and integrity
until you run into an IO who denies you cause you did it too many times in their opinion, hence my advice get a year visa with multiple entries removes that worry
METV is not a year visa. It's a nine month visa at best. If used to the max. And don't just 'run into' IO's who deny entry. Something about about past or the person you are will draw attention in a non-favourable way. You will notice with entry denials it is never just one IO. They don't have the authority so must seek out supervisor. If you have the 3 proofs, you will likely be granted entry and given a warning. Which might happen many times lol

There is no official limit on how many times you can stamp in/out of Thailand via air land or sea plus extensions of the visa exempt stamp
With that being said
You will eventually run into an I/O who will say No or give you a stern warning about your visa exemption log with no real visa
Haters will argue with me or the masses in here will say use an agent to get through the red tape at immigration checkpoints via border bounces and the Sotomor
But there is no official limit at all

Just get a dtv visa, if your planing to stay longer then 6 months its cheaper then extensions & border runs
