TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a marriage extension in Thailand, the validity of your UK passport is not a limiting factor; however, the extension granted will only last until your passport's expiration date. Therefore, if your passport expires before the end of the requested extension, the extension will only be valid until the passport expires.
Your passport validity is not a limiting factor to applying for an extension. But if the extension is longer than your passport is valid, you will only get an extension until your passport expiration date.
I had 18 months left when I arrived and have been here one month already so I have 17 months left and will apply next month for extension so will have 16 months left. But read on google that you need at least 18 months left to apply. Which sounds daft to basically have to renew my passport with that time remaining. Was planning on renewing from here in April next year when I have 6 months left.
