For how long did you book your hotel for a DTV on Booking or Agoda? I heard that if it will be to short, they can give you tourist visa instead of a DTV
Answer summary
When applying for a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) in Thailand, there are mixed experiences regarding the required length of hotel bookings. Generally, it seems that booking a hotel for a short duration does not typically result in being issued a tourist visa instead of a DTV. Many expats report not facing such issues, while one recommendation suggests making a refundable booking for a longer duration (e.g., 90 days) to avoid complications. If concerned, providing a cover letter explaining your plans to search for long-term accommodation may also be beneficial.

Did not book anything, wasn’t even asked to show any accomodation
I have never heard of anyone being given a tourist visa instead of the DTV because they booked a hotel for a few days. Most people that arrive for the first time don't have a long-term living arrangements because they plan to look once they arrive or plan to move around. If you are really concerned about it, or are applying at an embassy that is asking for such proof, then book a refundable Airbnb for a couple of months or simply book the hotel and add a cover letter explaining you will be staying there while you search for a condo to rent.
It is possible to make cancelable reservations for more than 90 days so it seems better to make it longer If you plan to stay long and since you can change it anyway.
