Hi, how long do you need to wait to re enter Thailand on a tourist Visa after your Education Visa has finished, reason being I am going to a wedding in Singapore and my Ed Visa 1 year ends before I am due to return. I then need to come back into Thailand to fly to Tokyo, flight is from BKK but my flight back into Thailand is to DMK so I will need to re enter Thailand to switch airports in the same day?!

To confirm, I have been to every Thai school lesson since my Visa was issued. Everything is being done by the book for my Visa, I just need to leave early and come back in quickly to grab some bags in storage in BKK and catch my connecting flight the same day. I just didn’t know if there was a period of time you need to wait to re enter Thailand after a 1 year Ed Visa has expired?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post inquires about the waiting period to re-enter Thailand on a tourist visa after an education visa expires, specifically in the context of attending a wedding in Singapore and needing to return to Thailand for a flight to Tokyo. Respondents note that there is no specified minimum waiting period for re-entry after the education visa expires. However, providing proof of onward travel and other documentation can support re-entry into Thailand without issues.

There is no 100% chance you'll make it in. However, having an expensive pre-paid ticket from Bangkok to Tokyo is decent proof, if you are ever questioned. Even print your hotel room in Tokyo. Was your Singapore to Tokyo tickets bought together (with a DMK-BKK airport transfer being part of that)? Something else you can show, if that's the case.

I've never done this before, so maybe someone can confirm, but do you have to stamp "into" Thailand (with a shuttle or something), if you simply have to transfer between airports?

brilliant thank you, i’ve actually managed to find a flight to BKK as opposed to DMK to make life easier but we have 9 hours to kill still before the onward travel so it would obviously be ideal to be able to go into the city for the day and get our bags etc rather than wait around in the airport, especially with a 3 year old!

it’s not a connecting flight per the booking, it’s just way more cost effective for my family to do it this way (we are visiting Laos and Vietnam in between coming back to Thailand from Singapore and didn’t want to carry everything with us). I will have proof of flights, accommodation and also proof of return flight back home to the UK after Japan. We are booking a multi city flight after Singapore and this is just the way it works out. There is no intention on staying in Thailand for any longer than the time it takes to get from DMK, to Sukhumvit to grab bags from storage, to BKK - albeit during rush hour!! All of our documents will prove that

There is no written rule on minimum stay out of Thailand to re-enter. All you can do is prepare everything with proof of cash, and onward travel, and explanation.

Preferably, do web/online check-in to your airline leaving Bangkok so that you have concrete proof of that you are leaving by checked-in ticket and/or boarding pass.

ok great, thank you for your advice. The last thing I wanted is for all my things to be in storage and not be able to get them!
