Anyone recently done the TR Tourist Visa in Cambodia and how many days did it take? Would it be possible to apply 8am Thursday morning and get it back Friday afternoon? Thanks πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

TLDR : Answer Summary
The processing time for a TR Tourist Visa at the Thai Consulate in Phnom Penh is typically 3 working days, meaning if you submit your application on Thursday, you can expect to receive it back on the following Monday. Some users have reported receiving their visa after applying on Thursday morning and collecting it on Monday afternoon. It is recommended to plan travel accordingly and ensure you meet all entry requirements, especially if you have been in Thailand on COVID extensions.

and I think at this point the O/P and the other "klingonz" who were interested in going to Phnom Penh to get a visa have their answer.

REMEMBER that consulate has nationality specific processing times so not everyone gets the 3 day turn around.

Go to the thai consulate website in Phnom Penh, READ the requirements (and the restrictions) BEFORE you wing your way there.

Thursday and got back Tuesday afternoon. I used a visa agent as I couldn't be bothered dealing with the embassy, for an extra 20 USD, I also had my passport posted to me in siem reap as I couldn't stand staying in Phnom phen, every 3.5 seconds it was "tuk tuk, tuk tuk"

@Charlie ****
Do you mind giving the details of the visa agent you used, please?
Tod *********
@Scott ********
read Charlie's threads, They were in Siem Reap and there is no thai consulate there. They used one of the MANY MANY agents up there (there's no shortage) because "they couldn't be bothered, NOT because it's hard to deal wth the consulate πŸ˜•

That agency posted their passport to the thai consulate in Phnom Penh and got the visa and had it posted back.

IF you're going to Phnom Penh there's no need use an agency AT ALL. Read the website, find the visa you want, turn in the required documentation and you'll get the visa. AFAIK even agents can't break the 'time line' on getting visas issued there.

Still if you're hell-bent on using an agency in Phnom Penh back pre-covid people used Lucky Lucky Motorcycle (they rent moto's and were a visa agency)

Good luck,

I was wondering if they might not be sensitive about a bunch of Covid extensions.
Brandon ************
@Martin *******
they're sensitive about everything right now. I cancelled my ED and switched to Covid because I needed an extra 2 weeks until returning home last year. Was out of the country for 4 months and returned with a tourist visa from the US and still got pulled out of line and grilled.
Finn ******
@Brandon ***********
is it because of covid stamp?
Brandon ************
@Rover *****
they don't give reasons for what they do, but it's a strong possibility. Even if it was only for 2 weeks, it's probably what caused the extra scrutiny.

The BIG thing; (especially if you have been IN thailand on covid extensions a while) is;

You need to be prepared to get put thru the ringer if you're just bouncing out and back with a new tourist visa (no matter where you're comin' in from) when you get to passport control in Bangkok.

In addtion to the thai pass, covid insurance, test&go, etc you need to have the 'standard' entry requirements in case you're asked proof of 20K baht in CASH, proof of onward travel within 60 days (to your home country is best) and proof of lodging after you clear the test&go hotel.

Also while it might not be convenient, you should look at comin' back in via Phuket OR Chiang Mai (if you can) because BOTH Bangkok airports have and are denying people entry who have been here a while already

@Tod ********
issue is there are no direct flights to Phuket or Chiang Mai from Cambodia or Vietnam πŸ˜•

@Paul *********
I think direct flights to Phuket from Vietnam come back mid April. Otherwise you can always transit via Singapore to Phuket.

No worries!

Also, the problem isn't getting the visa, it's getting through Thai immigration. We were grilled separately and together for over an hour in the detention area on arrival.

@John ********
what exactly the documents you submitted for the tourist visa? Thanks

The financial proof ?
John *********
@Kylie ********
UK bank statement, flight to Thailand, flight out of Thailand within 60 days, passport photograph, colour copy of passport. Application can be made 9am to 10am Monday to Friday.

Thank you
@John ********
for that. It's why I posted below that people need to be ready to be just dragged over hot coals about why you're comin' back to thailand so fast for after being here a while

We were well prepared for that with supporting documents and were prepared to be denied as well, as we'd been here over 2 years using a tourist visa, a 'visa that shouldn't be mentioned' plus 2 x covid. The signs above the interrogation officer saying "lie to officer, 6 months jail" is quite unsettling. We'd pre-agreed to be honest and apologise for using wrong visa. Worked for us anyway.

, what's a "visa that shouldn't be mentioned?" Sending pm.

okay yes understand.... Its been a horrific 2 and a half years with all the covid disturbances.. So difficukt to do anything..

We're retired and have income etc. but I only turn 50 in May, so we were just trying to get to stay until then. I had all the insurance and documents to apply for Non O if we were to be allowed back in. Personally, I think the admission of guilt was the deciding factor but who knows. The last thing the officer said was that she understood our situation but please only use correct visa in future.

@John ********
really glad it worked out for you (y)

The stated turn around time for a visa issued from the thai consulate in Phnom Penh is 3 working days <- that is you turn in your application on Monday and you pick it up on Wednesday

So if you turn it in Thursday you're gonna get it back on MONDAY according to their posted policy.

I would NOT plan my travel around you thinking you're gonna get it like the consulates in Lao / Malaysia used to (turn in one morning pick it up the next afternoon) the one in Phnom Penh doesn't work like that
