TLDR : Answer Summary
Applying for a tourist visa in Kuala Lumpur involves booking appointments for both application submission and passport collection. Generally, if you apply in the morning on day one, you can collect your visa in the afternoon of day two, assuming it's a working day. It's essential to prepare and print the visa requirements beforehand. Additionally, if you have your own house in Thailand, you'll need to clarify what documentation is necessary regarding your stay there. For financial proof, you will likely need to show all bank transactions for the past three months.

For application, do you know if they request a printed statement which shows every bank transaction from the past 3 months?

Or, do you just need to provide evidence of bank balance only?

besides, for item 6, actually I have my own house in Thailand, and that is where I will be staying, what should I provide for this item?

Also, more questions on the application form , for current address, should I write the hotel I am staying in KL ? And for permanent address, should I write the address in my home town ? (sorry for so many questions, but really thank for answering! million thanks !!!)

Thank you! so current address = hotel in KL; permanent address = home address in home country in HK. Million thanks !!

@Quizas ***************
yes. Address in KL then address in Thailand. Ignore guarantor. Not needed for a tourist visa.

sorry for permanent address, you mean address in Thailand ? would they challenge me for having a permanent address in Thailand when applying for a tourist visa? or should I write the address in my home country (in Hong Kong)?

@Quizas ***************
I certainly wouldn't give a Thai address, that would mean you live in Thailand so why would you need a tourist visa
Stuart *********
@Quizas ***************
sorry didn’t spot that. Use current address in Thailand and permanent address as Hong Kong
Stuart *********
Sorry meant to type current address in KL. Your hotel.

Rental contract should suffice. I really don’t know if they’re hot on the tax payer number thing. If you own the property then blue book and Chanote title deed (both sides) should suffice.

I have a question on the highlight it section... You have to show all your accommodations for your whole time in Thailand? What if you're going to a new hotel every three days... What if you don't have any plans on where you're going to stay because you decide daily

One of the most stupidest requirements known to man for a tourist visa…..What tourist books a 60 day stay in one hotel?

One way to get around it would be to book a cancellable hotel. Get your visa then cancel.

I got this photo two days ago from someone in Savannakhet... I'm going there on Monday. I printed out my 3 months bank statements from USA

the list doesn’t mention accommodations in thailand , so probably different embassy has different requirements

I have the yellow book, I will use that then

I can’t confirm but I would assume that would suffice.

no problem, I will try, if the worst case, I may book a hotel in Thailand for a few days.

@Quizas ***************
a hotel for a few days won't suffice. If they don't accept your home, you need to show a booking for the full time you'll be in Thailand, so from the time your ticketing until Thailand until the time of your ticket out of Thailand. And you must show that it's already been paid with a receipt for payment that includes the tax ID number of the hotel.

this is tourist visa for 60 days, do you mean I need to book hotel for a full 60 days ? that is huge amount. Or when you say to match the period of flight ticket, so I guess if my ticket is for 4 days (i.e. staying 4 day 3 nights in Thailand ), then I can book hotel for 3 nights for this period, but would they challenge me the need to apply tourist visa for just staying in Thailand for 4 days and reject my application?
Brandon ************
@Quizas ***************
yes that's what I mean. There's not many embassies that are requiring the paid receipt with tax ID but the ones that do require you to prove you already paid for the full time you'll be in Thailand. So whatever time it is between your ticket into Thailand your ticket out of Thailand. That requirement started showing up during covid.

why a tourist visa if you have a yellow book and own a house? Would a long term visa not be preferable?

my husband will apply retirement visa next year when he turns 50, so from now till then, can only apply tourist visa 60 days + 30days extension, plus visa run and or border bounce etc. or other method I miss ? welcome suggestion .

@Quizas ***************
what visa is your husband on?

previously enter thailand in visa exempt
John **********
@Quizas ***************
oh right. I think you're going to struggle to live inside Thailand on a mixture of visa/visa exempt entries until next year. And if your husband is applying for his retirement visa inside Thailand you will need to wait until he is on an extension before you can leave Thailand to apply for a trailing spouse visa so even longer for you.

yes, so for myself will be even longer.

If you have the appointments needed it’s generally apply in the morning of day 1 and collect in the afternoon of working day 2.

don't forget to check Thai holidays and Malaysia holidays

In KL you need to book an appointment for the application and an appointment to collect your passport. You also need to printout the requirements pdf and be able to show you’ve ticked all the boxes of what’s required for the particular visa you’re applying for.

Thanks, I also saw that in the website that I need to make appointment to submit applications, but can’t find information on how to make appointment to collect. So do you know approximately how many days to get it approve? For example if I make an appointment to apply on a Monday, should I make an appointment to collect on the Tuesday (the next day)?
