TLDR : Answer Summary
Acquiring a retirement visa in Thailand is generally considered easier than a marriage visa. The retirement visa requires more money in a Thai bank account (800,000 THB) compared to the marriage visa (400,000 THB) but involves less paperwork. The process begins with obtaining an initial 90-day retirement visa, which can be done within an hour once the required funds have been in the bank for 2 months. After this, you can obtain a 12-month extension of that visa two months later.

Marriage visa: if something tragic happens to your wife (sickness, motor bike accident) you have 72 hours to leave Thailand, leaving the children (if you have them) behing and come back on another visa.

Once you have the money in the bank for 2 months it takes an hour to get the initial 90 day visa then 2 months later u can go back and get the 12 month extension of that Visa.

Only Jomtien Immigration requires the two month seasoned 800k for a Non-O based on retrement (over 50)

Will you be applying from inside Thailand (do you have a Thai bank account?) or from a Thai Embassy/Consulate?

Retirement is very definitely easier than marriage visa... Without a shadow of doubt.

The retirement visa will be easier than the marriage visa with less paperwork but u need more money in a thai bank acct (800k for retirement and 400k for marriage)
