What are the best options for a border run from Bangkok to Myanmar for a Canadian passport holder?

Good-morning ๐Ÿ™‚

Would anyone here please be able to advise me on a reputable border run company from Bangkok to Myanmar? I have a Canadian passport and this is my first time doing a land border crossing from Thailand.

*I flew to Thailand on a 30 day visa exempt and extended at immigration another 30 days. I was planning on travelling on to Malaysia. However my mother and father have heard how much I have loved my two months travelling throughout Thailand and have decided to come visit Thailand for three weeks. They booked the tickets before telling me. I am worried now that this could be an issue as I had already done a 30 day exempt and a 30 day extension. Would I be ok doing a border run to extend my stay here 30 more days?

I know in hindsight I should have got a 60 day tourist visa before leaving Canada. Unfortunately when I left for my one year career break from Canada - Thailand was only a month on my itinerary ๐Ÿ˜†

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian passport holder in Thailand is seeking advice on reputable companies for a border run to Myanmar, as they have already utilized a 30-day visa exempt by land and have extended their stay once. They are concerned about their stay overlapping with their parents' visit. Community members provided insights on border run options, highlighted safety concerns with minibus services, and suggested alternatives such as public buses and trains.

And before more people jump in telling that Thailand is not a safe country to live and travel, I would say, you came on voluntary basis and if you think it is to dangerous for you, you have other options. You do not have to do border runs every 60 or 90 days, get a long time visa or Extension of Stay

most of them drive like lunatics and when asked to slow down they just don't listen, get pissed off or drive even more erratically. This is just personal experience, thank god i don't have to use them anymore! Choose your company wisely and ASK about the drivers they use!

The words safety & caution don't exist in the Thai vocabulary. They are unknown concepts here.

You only need to crash once and you're wiped out at that speed. Don't know why someone doesn't launch a company that promises to drive slower..

You can do it yourself. It's about 120THB for a bus from Bangkok to Kanchanburi, and another 60 from Kanchanburi to the border. It's 960THB to take a minivan across the border and back (includes the price for the border pass). The bus and minivans are safe during the day. If you got time and want a unique experience, you can take the train from Bangkok to Kanchanburi, it'll be 100THB one way the last I checked.

For what it's worth, the bus/van #81 that goes from Bangkok to Kanchanburi are mini-buses, and not the 16 passenger vans.

Thank you Benjamin.

Wouldn't go anywhere near them minibuses if you value your life. Larger public bus would be preferable, less chance of them being able to drive like they have a death wish.

Really? I have never been in one before. This would be my first ever border run/crossing in Asia. Are they really unsafe?

Yes...You can

as long as you don't have TWO 30 day visa exempt entries by land so far this year you're fine bouncing out and back in to get a new 30 day exempt entry stamp.

runs to the border every day.
