How easy is the application for 90 visa from Thai embassy in uk
Answer summary
The application for a 90-day visa from the Thai embassy in the UK is generally considered straightforward, particularly if done online through the embassy's website. Most users reported that the process is easy and can be completed in about 20 minutes, especially when prepared with all necessary documents (passport, photo, proof of address, flight details, accommodation booking, and financial statements). However, applicants noted challenges such as using a phone for the application (which is often more difficult than using a PC or tablet), merging documents for upload, and ensuring compliance with specific file formats. Some experienced issues with documentation rejections, particularly concerning bank statements and photos, which can complicate the process. Overall, applicants recommend thorough preparation, double-checking information, and using a computer for a smoother experience.

The online e-visa application is reasonably straightforward compared to other Thai websites and apps. You need to be aware though that, depending on the application type, you may need to merge some documents. For example, a Non O based on marriage requires three months bank statements yet that section of the site only allows one upload. You need to merge three pages into one and then upload. There are quite a online sources that will do that - very easily and free - google it. Beware that some of them allude to being free but try to charge you on the last step. The other sections also only allow one upload - I wasn't sure if they would accept only my marriage certificate so merged the certificate + front and rear pages of my KR2.
Is it really worth all the effort, uncertainty, stress, possible rejection on arrival, expenses, etc, when the Thai Government are already 'crowing' about the 30,000 or so visitors that they have refused entry to, this year ?
It appears straight forward however for some reason and Three attempts later mine was approved… each time stating the same 4 parts where wrong, I checked and double checked and still couldn’t understand exactly what they were wanting… I tried to telephone to speak but couldn’t get through ….. there was a problem with my photo as they repeatedly asked for a white background which it was … they’d send me a template of how my photo should be yet again I couldn’t see any issues with mine as it appeared as there template was….
After he third attempt I was granted my visa 2 days before flying.
They state they want pdf paperwork so I send pdf then they say they want screenshots ….
It’s not as simple as it appears and I’m sure they make it more difficult at the embassy …
I sent the same photo 3 times and they only accepted it on the final time yet it was the same ?
Make sure you’ve got everything at hand and give your self plenty of time… I started my process 6 weeks before travelling and received it 2 days before my flight left
The hardest part was uploading proof that I had £19k in my uk account and it had been there for the past 3 months. The bank uses software not recognised by the Thai Visa app which means you must create a .jpeg of your bank statement. I used photoshop to add the information to one big jpeg and uploaded that. You cannot upload more than one file either. Anyway, it worked, I got the non resident visa O 3 days later.
What sort of 90 day visas? Tourist visas are 60 days on entry, the same as an METV. But each 60 day entry can be extended by 30 days at the immigration office that serves the area where you are living.
If you go down the 2 x Tourist Visa route you would have to apply for the second one after you complete your first stay in Thailand. Much easier to go with the METV
Hi Heidi, you had to tick a box with how much you earn each year, which started at over 20k US dollars, that then went up in scale incrementally to over 80k, so I know what I ticked, but not sure how much they’re looking for to be honest, they just want to see regular money going into your account or enough so you can support yourself whilst you’re there I guess. I got 2 visas within 5 days for my son (20 years old) and myself, they asked for a couple of extra things for my daughter as she’s under 18, I’m sponsoring both of them whilst in Thailand, so only showed my bank details.
Paul Acourt, this was for a tourist visa, I showed 3 months of current account statements, not my deposit account, the question was how much you earn per year in USD equivalent, it was done on

Neil Jones they will not let you leave England if don't have a visa for all the time you are there i had to book a flight to Vietnam to show i was not going to over stay
Tom Whyte the hardest part is gathering all of the information in the correct format and file size. As you say, prepare it all first and it is quite easy to follow the instructions. Better to do it on a computer if possible.
Very easy, but too easy you might make a mistake. So check and double check info. I once put in wrong expiry date in passport cancelled my application didn't tell me for a week.
