How does the new visa extension policy at MTT affect the duration of the extension from application date?

Has anyone been to MTT for a visa extension since they started taping this announcement to passports? Are they giving 60 days from the new extension application date or 60 days from the current extension expiration date?

My current extension expires on September 27. Three weeks prior to my expiry date is tomorrow. I'm just wondering if it is necessary to go so early and potentially lose 3 weeks of my current extension. Thank you for sharing your experience.

ETA: arrived 45-day visa exempt, extended 30 days, currently on visa extension unable to travel due to COVID. This will be my first time extending the COVID extension.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Users discuss their experiences with the new visa extension procedures at MTT, particularly regarding an announcement added to passports that may affect the duration of extensions. It appears that extensions granted under the COVID-19 policy could start from the application date, possibly adding 60 days to the current expiry. The conversation clarifies that individuals can apply for an extension when there are 45 days or less remaining on their current visa, and new extensions are typically added to the existing stamp's expiration date.

I'm shutting this down. IF anyone wants commenting reopened, please send a moderator a message.

1. For MTT, They *MAY* still be seeing 300 people a day.

2. IF you're getting your first 60 day extension of stay based on unable to travel due to COVID-19, the date it starts is when you apply at most immigration offices. If you're getting your second stamp, then the additional time is added on.

3. You can get a new extension of stay stamp when there's 45 days or less remaining on your existing stamp.

Thank you.

How do we book and reserve a queue no. Prior to visa extension? Is there such thing? (Marriage non o visa). Thanks

Currently, online booking isn't working. You need to show up with prepared documents and go to the queuing counter to get the actual queue number.

You are already on (so-called)Covid extension and your next extension is the same reason for the second time, not the first. So a new extension will be added.

You're fine, you can go about 3 weeks before your current stamp runs out. They'll ADD the 60 day covid extension to your current stamps expiration date.

Sorry but MTT is referred to chaengwattana in Bangkok?

Or chaengwattana still asking people to come 3 days before the expiration stamp of their VISA?

no, Muang THong Thani is not Chaengwattana, they are separate immigration offices in bangkok

AND the policy at Chaengwattana changed back to the 45 days or less that they always had

Usually your extension is tacked on to the end of your current permission to stay stamp. There are reports that people applying for Covid extensions are having 60 days stamped from the date of application.

You do not lose 3 weeks. You gain 60 days if you apply as the Extension of Stay always start at the date as permitted to stay

I am under the Unable to Travel Due to Covid-19 Extension. Each immigration office is slightly different. However, at MTT, this is what I brought: 1.) Passport 2.) Passport Picture 3.) Copy of passport information page & copy of the page with my TM6 stamped into it. 3.) Documents: TM7, STM2, The acknowledgement of Penalties PDF, Affidavit for granting permission to temporarily stay in the kingdom PDF. These four documents you can obtain at MTT or under the files tab in this group, I believe. Before, you were required to book an appointment online. However, the online booking system is down, and I had no problem at MTT without an appointment. The extension is for 60 days. Yes, you can extend it again for 60 days. However, the current program ends at the end of this month. You have until September 27th to apply. They may or may not extend it.

Unable to travel due to covid-19. The last day of my extension was September 26th. Now, after this morning’s trip to immigration, my extension is until November 25th.

hello, are you on a covid visa? I’m asking as I’m planning to get the same. Would you mind specifying the cost & documents required if it’s a covid visa. Also, do I need to book an appointment in advance and also speak no Thai. Lastly, how many times is it renewable and I understand it’s for 2 months extension each time? Thanks in advance!

I don't think anyone has, but you're out of nothing by trying. I believe this message means "Go later, and not sooner". For example, for Changwattana, they were telling people to get a new extension of stay no sooner then 3 business days before their existing stamp expires.

You can apply for a new extension of stay when you have 45 days or less remaining in Bangkok. I *THINK* MTT still only sees 300 people a day though.

I am quite confused. So, may I ask you? I have a Non Immigrant O Visa Retirement that i renew, or more exactly that I extend each year for one more year. My visa will expire on september 30. I mean september 30 is the end date of validity. In Bangkok, can I go to Immigration Chaeng Watthana to apply for the yearly extension ( a one year extension) tomorrow for example or do I have to go only 3 days before september 30?

Thank you very much
