Has anyone investigated how you renew your retirement visa or check in if you are mentally or physically disabled? I live in Bangkok. I understand a will or poa or living will etc. helps. If you know anyone who has experienced this, that would be valuable. Please only serious responses.
Answer summary
The conversation emphasizes the need to understand the procedures for renewing a retirement visa in Thailand, especially for individuals who may be mentally or physically disabled. It mentions that having a will or power of attorney can be beneficial. While experiences and acceptance of various financial proofs (like fixed deposits) vary by immigration office, confirming requirements directly with local authorities is highly recommended.

As per usual it depends on the office and officer you talk to. Better to have a contingency

Fixed deposits are fully accepted in Jomtien as Thai fixed deposits can be cancelled without notice (but with loss of interest). I have been using fixed deposits for 15 years without any issues at all.

Other immigration branches may have their own odd rules.

Des Dp Krungsri. Rates vary. Special offers are usually better than the standard published rates. Banks usually put all this on their websites so look at them all.

Generally speaking, no FIXED DEPOSIT is accepted. But... this may vary with local immigration.

The funds must be instantly accessible, as they are there to prove you can support yourself

Talk to Thai Visa Centre about the 800k.

No funds need to be accessible

Fixed term funds in Thailand

Are normally 3 years @ 1.8%

Or 10 yrs @ 2.8 %

Usually it depends on the type of fixed deposit account. If the money is not accessible at all they won't accept it, if it's accessible by paying a penalty they might. Did they use this same account for their previous extension? Probably best to go to the immigration office they will use and ask there.

He will have to ask immigration officer at his local immigration office. Apparently some accept them and most dont.

Show a bank book with seasoned balance, get statement from the bank and you’re good.
