I'm looking at buying a motorcycle from a Thai person this week, it would be shipped to my province (Lampang) from Bangkok area. Mutual Thai friend checked it out, all is good with buyer, shipping, bike, etc. but..

How does it work to transfer bike from Thai person shipped to me the foreigner (Retirement visa, Thai DL)? Is it easy once we sign something online, and the bike is already here for me to go into office or is there something else to think about?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To transfer ownership of a motorcycle you bought from a Thai seller, you need to visit the Department of Land Transport (DLT) in your provincial capital. Gather necessary documents including a bill of sale, signed copies of both yours and the seller’s Thai ID, a residence certificate from immigration, and the green book. Ensure that the bill of sale is witnessed by two individuals not involved in the transaction. There may also be additional requirements like power of attorney forms for plate changes and registration.

have you seen this bike in person. Lots of scammers around. I'm sure you can buy a bike in your town

Not worth the hassle. You should buy one locally, and then the buyer and seller can go to DLT together.

You will need to take the bike to the dlt in your provincial capital. You will need bill of sale, signed copies of your and sellers ID, residence certificate from immigration and the green book. Be sure the bill of sale is witnessed by 2 people not part of the transaction.

You'll need the bill of sale, copy of their Thai ID and house book, you'll need the transfer papers completed, you'll need possibly two power of attorneys signed by them so that you can change the bike plates and register your name in the green book to your province
