Hi, I have a marriage visa and want to go to Europe for 5 weeks. How do you handle the re-entry permit at the airport, and how long does that take? My marriage visa was issued 3 years ago with each extension. I don't know if this visa have re entry permit options. My Thai wife obtained the visa through immigration, and to be honest, I forgot to ask about the re entry permit options! Thanks...
Answer summary
To obtain a re-entry permit for your marriage visa at the airport, head to the re-entry desk located in Departure 2 at Suvarnabhumi Airport. After passing security, you can tell an immigration officer that you need a re-entry permit. The process generally takes about 10-15 minutes and costs 1200 baht, which includes form completion and a photo. Ensure to bring cash, as the station does not accept cards, and it's advisable to ask airport staff for directions if you're unsure where to go.

ALSO SUPER IMPORTANT: the re-entry permit station only takes cash, do not forget to take cash or you will waste another 30 minutes tracking down a currency exchange and losing money to buy thai baht at a high rate just to get cash as there are NO atms

SUPER IMPORTANT: only one gate/exit has the re-entry permit station at Suvarnabumi. Make sure you ask and get the actual correct answer as to which gate to go up the escalator. I went the wrong way once and after going through security had to beg them to let me out and go back to the other sides gate. The worst part was I originally tried going through that gate to the escalator but it was only passable using the auto doors and the auto doors wouldnt let me through for whatever reason, the girl was standing right there and she told me I had to use the other gate then, when I eventually got back to her and complained I had to use this gate to get to the re-entry permit station she just let me through, which she could have done 30 minutes earlier!

At the Suvarnabhumi Airport, the re-entry desk is inside DEPARTURE 2. You will have to pass the security check, and when you approach the exit desks, tell an Immigration officer that you would like to buy a re-entry permit. The re-entry permit desk used to be BEFORE the exit desks, but it has now moved into a separate area, since they installed the automated gates. ONLY in Departure 2, nowhere else. A single re-entry permit is 1200 Baht at the BKK airport

You can buy a re-entry permit at your local immigration office. It is 1000 for a single and 3800 for a multi-entry. The permit lasts until your extension runs out. You can also buy one at the airport and land border points. I've never bought one at Don Mueang, so I can't advise, but I have bought one at Suvarnabhumi Airport. There are more than one passport exit zones, but the re-entry purchase desk is located at zone 2. If you leave via another zone, it is not a problem, as immigration will direct you to zone 2 after you pass passport control. They charge 1200 baht as they take your photo and complete the form for you. It is not normally busy. Take note that they only accept cash.

If you use international departure 2️⃣ at Suvarnabhumi, you’ll see the Re-entry counter in the corner between security and immigration on your way out. Takes 10-15 min depending on queue and cost 1200 baht including photo and form.

Greg Alexander I know, it’s demolished and moved inside. You still use departure 2 and you’ll find it after the security check and before immigration on your way out.

I guess I was one of the first people updating this information as I in fact was at the airport when they demolished the old re-entry permit counter.

It's very easy to do at Airport. It is just before passport control so ask around if you can't see signs.

If you live close by your local immigration just pop in there and get a re-entry permit doesn't take long to do its peace of mind or just ask any airport staff when you get there where it is usually takes about 5 minutes to complete...

Just ask any of the security-staff where the re-entry desk is, and they'll point you in the right direction.

Took me like 5 minutes at Don Muang a couple of months ago. 1200 baht since I didn't bring my own photos. Normal price is 1000 for single entry re-entry.
