Will my 14-year-old be allowed entry to Thailand with a student visa if their passport is expiring soon?

Hello, I'm looking for advice regarding passport expiration date.

My 14 year old is on a student visa through an international school. The passport expires in March, which is also when the visa expires (they always cut the visa short to the time of passport expiration).

We were hoping to renew the passport in January, but due to family health issues in the USA, we may need to travel to the US and back to Thailand before January.

Do you think that having a valid visa until March will allow my child entry if the passport is less than 6 months validity?

Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The concern is about the entry regulations to Thailand given that the child's passport and student visa both expire in March. It is generally advised to renew the passport as soon as possible, as airlines may not allow boarding without at least 6 months of passport validity. While some airlines might accept less than 6 months if a valid visa is present, the safest option is to ensure the passport is renewed. The renewal can potentially be done at the US Embassy in Bangkok.

Re new at home and probably needs a re entry permit

Check your airline first. Some airlines accept passport valid for less than 6 months for boarding IF you have VALID visa (or proof of permitted to stay) in your passport. Easiest might be renew a passport as people said.

You could renew it at the US Embassy in Bangkok.

Renew his passport NOW...

Do NOT wait....

The airline will likely not issue him a boarding pass to fly to Thailand, as he does not have 6 months remaining on his passport.
