How do I apply for a DTV visa on medical grounds as a foreigner in Thailand?

Help please am confused maybe because I'm clocking on. Am thinking applying for DTV on medical grounds. I have been told I need letter from thai doctor after appointment, does that mean I fly from UK get letter then fly back to apply? I have heart disease and have evidence letter from my UK consultant. As I'm a widower my plan was to visit various hospitals and enter a treatment plan based on cost. I would be flying home after stays and coming back. Sorry if I'm boring you but not sure what do or apply for.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is confused about the process of applying for a DTV visa on medical grounds due to their heart disease. They inquire about the need for a letter from a Thai doctor, wondering if they must travel from the UK to obtain it. Comments suggest visiting a Thai doctor to establish a long-term treatment plan, obtaining a letter from the doctor on headed paper, and showing commitment through scheduled appointments. Successful applicants have shared their experiences of receiving DTV approval after demonstrating a clear ongoing treatment plan.

I'm on a medical DTV. I contacted a hospital in Thailand and we put together a long term plan. This was accepted. All done by email

Go and make an appointment with a doctor here whilst you are in Thailand and explain your medical situation and what you are hoping to put in place for ongoing monitoring/treatment for your condition. They will either refer you to a suitable consultant or make a treatment plan for you at the clinic. You will need a letter from the GP or consultant (headed paper) saying you have been appraised and that you will be returning to Thailand to treat an ongoing condition. In addition to that, make some provisional appointments for treatment for roughly when you intend to return (I made 12 over a three month period, one per week) and have the clinic print them out for you on headed paper. I applied through the UK Embassy whilst I was home in the UK and got my DVT approved about 14 days after I submitted all the documents. Hope that helps. Good luck. 😊

I agree with Anonymous participant 205. My wife was also advised to have the letter include at least 6 months of appointments to show a long-term plan. Hers is under ongoing hormone replacement therapy. Approved Feb. 2025.

They would like to see your commitment to a long-term treatment plan, backed by a recognised hospital, clinic, or doctor here in Thailand. You would need to come here first to choose what best suits you, or contact them from where you are (if accepted by the hospital/embassy).
