TLDR : Answer Summary
You can apply for an extension of your O-A visa right up until the last day your current visa is valid. While some immigration offices may allow applications to be made 30 to 45 days in advance, it is advisable to avoid waiting until the last minute to ensure you have enough time to address any additional requests or paperwork needed.
Okay, let's nip this in the bud and say at ANY immigration office you can apply from 30 days before your current stamp runs out right down until the last day the stamp is valid for.
True some of the offices allow you to apply 45 days or less before your stamp runs out but the O/P is asking how CLOSE to their expiration date they can apply and that is right up until the day it expires..
All the extensions start from the date that the current stamp expires, you do not lose time, it's added on. You're extending from the date of expiration, not the date you apply for the extension.
