I want hubby n kid to join me but they will enter as tourists. Any advice?
Answer summary
The user is seeking advice on how to have their husband and child join them in Thailand while they hold a Non-Immigrant B visa, considering they will initially enter as tourists. Suggestions from commenters include discussing options with the employer regarding dependent visas, applying for regular tourist visas for the husband and child, and possibly converting those to Non-Immigrant O visas later. It is emphasized that entering on a full tourist visa is advisable instead of visa exemption to ensure they have enough time to remain in Thailand while the user processes their visa extension.

Yeah ..no matter what, it will take longer than the life of the tourist visa by at least once.. so plan in going to another country for at least 2 week's.
You need to talk to your employer. They are the ones that have to provide similar paperwork to what you received for your visa. And if they want to convert inside of Thailand you'll have to check with your employer and your immigration office to see if they support that. Your employer might say they need to leave Thailand and apply at an embassy because it takes a LOT more paperwork from them to do it inside of Thailand than it does at an embassy. So much that some employers simply cannot do it.
“We also need to prepare and send you all the required documents to apply for a Non-Immigrant B visa.
Once you receive the visa, you can book your flight and travel to Thailand.
For your husband and son, they cannot apply for the Non-Immigrant O visa at the same time as you. The process is that you will first obtain a 3-month Non-Immigrant B visa. After 3 months, we will extend your visa in Thailand, and you will receive a 1-year visa.
Once you have obtained the 1-year visa, we can prepare and send the required documents for your husband and son to apply for a Non-Immigrant O visa from outside Thailand.
They can travel on the same flight as you, but they would need to enter Thailand with a tourist visa or visa exemption/visa on arrival, depending on their nationality and the applicable entry requirements.”
This was the explanation they provided so far. I’m wondering if there’s another way of entering from the beginning with attached dependent visa or if they will have issues requesting the 60 days visa ones
Homehuntertkt they need to apply for the full tourist visa. They cannot enter visa exempt, because they won't have enough time if they do that. The earliest you could possibly get your 1-year extension is 45 days after you arrive. But some immigration offices will be 60 days after you arrive. If they enter visa exempt they'll only receive a 30 day stamp and even with an extension they'll only get 60 days. But if they get a tourist visa they will get 60 days and can get a 30 day extension. That means you'll be able to get your 1-year extension while they still have plenty of time in Thailand. Then you can get the paperwork from your employer and they can leave to Laos or Vietnam to apply.
Homehuntertkt I would honestly contact your Embassy before their departure if they can apply for the correct visa before traveling before you are on your extension of stay.
But if they must wait, apply for regular tourist visas for 60 days, apply for 30 day extension in country, and then either convert in Thailand to Non-O if possible, OR head to a neighboring country to apply for them there if not possible.
