Hi, I'm a U.S. citizen with a Visa Exemption. I'm currently applying for my extension through the VFS website, and in the 'Current Visa Category' section, I selected 'Exemption Visa.' However, when I go to the 'Current Visa Sub Category' dropdown, there's no option for the 60-day exemption that’s listed on my passport. Can anyone guide me through this? Thanks in advance

TLDR : Answer Summary
A U.S. citizen with a 60-day visa exemption is facing issues with selecting the correct visa category in the VFS application for extension. Although they selected 'Exemption Visa,' the specific sub-category for the 60-day exemption is missing in the dropdown. Commenters provide guidance on whether to extend through VFS or go directly to immigration, emphasizing that it might be more efficient to apply in person. They share experiences of how to navigate the immigration office process, including tips on timing and required documents.

I just went to IT Square visa exemption office today to extend. I tried booking appointment online but they’re booked until next month so don’t bother.

Pro tip - arrive at 7:30-8:00 AM and you will be in and out within an hour. Arrive later and it could take you 4-5 hours. The office is inside the IT Square mall. This mall doesn’t open until 10AM, so if you go to main entrance then you’ll be confused. You need to go inside the

on the corner to gain access to the building. Then take elevator to 3rd floor and you’ll see the visa office.

You can make copies of passport, get a 4x6 photo done, and retrieve & fill out the 3 forms required all at the immigration office. However, if you have all of this ready prior to going, you will save yourself a lot of time.

I arrived at 8AM and was out by 9:30AM. When I left, the line was ridiculously long. Don’t wait.. go early trust me

Question- when you extend at immigration, will they stamp you 30 days from today or is it 30 days for your original expiration date
Nongnuch ********
@Kami *****
it is always 30 days on top of the initial 60 days

ok awesome thx!

Sorry, why are you using VFS for an extension on a visa exempt?
Nongnuch ********
@David **********
because this is the only official website on which you can apply for the "e-extension" in Bangkok

You want a 30 day extension?

Is there a specific reason you're trying to do the e-extension through VFS? There's not really any benefit because you still have to take all the documents you uploaded to the immigration office in person and your extension in your passport, and you have to pay extra for the "privilege."

You can just show up at immigration to apply for the extension as a walk-in, or make a free appointment if they're available within the time you need to get your extension.

it can help to skip long queries in immigration office in BKK. After application you get exact time and date and come to get a sticker that is smaller then stamp

you can make a free appointment though.

@Brandon ***********
now it looks better. More slots then i seen before.

@Brandon ***********

okay. Do you have an exempt visa? If so, can you help guide me through the online application? I'm so lost.

@Jayla *******

I looked online to see how I can do the extention online and it said to apply here to book an appointment at immigration to pay
Brandon ************
@Jayla *******
the only thing this system does is charge you to upload your documents that you still have to take to immigration to get your extension stamp. The only benefit which you pay an extra 500-1500 baht for is an appointment, which you can make yourself for free at most immigration offices. There's no such thing as a true "online extension" in Thailand as you have to go to the immigration office in all cases.

If you have visa exempt you would choose IT Square Laksi

You can apply when you have 45 days or less left on your stamp in Bangkok
