TLDR : Answer Summary
A user seeks advice on obtaining a letter from the Ministry of Education to extend their DTV visa while their muay thai gym is unsure of the process. Community members suggest that extending the visa in-country can be challenging and recommend considering a border run instead, citing it as a simpler and quicker option. Some advice includes asking the immigration officer to contact the gym for assistance, and others share personal experiences regarding border runs.

Basically doing an extension stay on a DTV is almost like obtaining a new DTV (as far as the work for you and the proofs you need to submit). This is why everyone says: just do a little trip somewhere outside of TH and come back, no need to prove anything except show your DTV when you return.

Why are you putting yourself through this? Just do a quick border run and be done with it.

An in-country extension on a DTV is an exercise in masochistic futility. Do a border bounce.

Your gym gave you documents from the Ministry of Education to apply for this visa.

Now the gym has no clue about their official registration to hand out documents to students?

Ask the Immigration Officer to contact the gym, or hand over your cellphone when you call them, to explain in Thai language what is needed.
