Hi everyone, I am from California, USA. Our arrival date to Bangkok, Thailand is March 10, 2026.
I was in the middle of applying for the DTV - but I had to stop midway because the Thai E-visa online site said "Applicant should not apply for visa more than 3 months before the date of intended arrival". So I'm too early as of today. I then should wait until December 15ish.
1) Just curious if anyone applied exactly at the 3 month mark and how long it took? Did it take about 2 weeks?
2) I am first applying then I will have my husband and 2 children (ages 9 and 6) apply as dependents if I am approved. I have been reading mixed comments about needing about $50,000 USD as a family to apply. I was hoping that's not true. Anyone with experience with just $25-$30k USD in their savings account for a family of 4?
I hope it won't take too long to get approved. Thanks so much for any help or advice!
TLDR : Answer Summary
The user plans to apply for a Thai E-visa before arriving in Bangkok on March 10, 2026, but must wait until around December 15, 2025, due to the rule against applying more than three months in advance. They seek advice on the processing time for applications submitted at the three-month mark and clarification on financial requirements for applying as a family of four. Responses indicate mixed opinions on the amount of savings needed, with suggestions to contact the consulate directly and explore the official Thai visa application site for accurate information.
