Hello every one,

I have got DTV visa since December 2024 and stay at Chiangmai over 5 months already. I have to extend/ renew another 180 days to stay at Thailand and I consider to go Tachileik which I have to cross border line to Myanmar and re-enter. So is there any one has experience for it and Thailand immigration at Tachileik border has capacity to extend visa for another 180 days by stamp in there? Would you please kindly advise?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The DTV visa holder in Chiang Mai is inquiring about extending their visa by re-entering Thailand through the Tachileik border with Myanmar. Several comments clarify that the land border to Myanmar is currently closed to foreigners, rendering a border crossing there impossible. Alternatives mentioned include crossing to Laos instead, which is feasible for a border bounce, but it's noted that such a crossing will not provide another full 180-day extension, only a new stamp for the existing visa. Using a border run service is also recommended to ensure a same-day return process.

Keep in mind, neither air nor land borders will extend your visa by 180 days. Your visa is fixed at five years. At the border you will receive a new 180 day permission to stay stamp

As you are in Chiang Mai, if you want to be assured of being able to do a SAME DAY border bounce, suggest you ask this experienced Border Run Service Company to take you. SAME DAY RETURN GUARANTEED. No One or two nights outside of Thailand before you can return is required.

All land borders to Myanmar are closed to foreigners. If you want to just do a border bounce, you will need to go to Chiang Saen and cross to Laos by boat, or Chiang Khong to cross by land. There are buses that go from Chiang Mai to Chiang Khong, not sure about Chiang Saen.
