How do I extend my 30-day visa exemption at Promenada in Chiang Mai? (Specifically, what do I need to take with me, where do I go, what do I do/ask for/say etc?) Sorry if this has been asked a million times before but I searched the group and couldn’t find anything so specific. Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To extend your 30-day visa exemption at Promenada in Chiang Mai, you'll need to bring copies of your passport ID page, the 'Admitted until' stamp, your departure card, and one passport-sized photo. First, go to the information stand in Promenada, where you will receive the TM 7 application form. After filling it out, they will check your documents for correctness and direct you to the appropriate desk for processing.

You can get a copy of your passport and a photo next door at the immigration office for like 10 baht.

although this sign IS advertising the ground floor one! Wow how confusing. There were people at both but more at the ground floor one so I went there. Both look identical though. If this is a scam, how is it allowed??

@Jen ******
The GROUND floor is the immigration office. The banner you showed is some b/s visa agent that does things for you.

There IS another immigration office on the second floor but they don't do extensions.

Face it you're NOT the only foreigner out there today who needs an extension :O Follow the herd of people.

I've seen more pictures of visa agents and their banners in the Promenada Mall, pretending that they are Immigration. I don't know where the office is inside the mall but you will recognize it, the staff wear uniforms.

i don’t really understand what you’re saying... this is a sign inside Promenada showing that immigration is on the ground floor but there’s also an immigration (that looks identical) on the second floor. I think we need to go to the ground floor but WHO KNOWS 😩

@Jen ******
This can NOT be a banner from Immigration, Immigration has nothing to do with your retirement and you can not get tourist visa inside the country, Immigration does not provice tours to other countries for this.

Hi Robert, on the off chance you see this message right away, do you know if the immigration place in ground floor or second floor? Standing next to one on the second floor but there’s a sign saying it’s on the ground floor?

Brilliant, thanks!

You can go as 45 days earlier than your last day in the stamp Admitted until in Chang Mai. The 30 days Extension of Stay is added on that day.

Thank you so much, that’s very clear and really helpful! Do you know if I can go before my 30 day exemption has expired?
