How can I apply for a long-term visa to study Thai language if the DTV doesn't list it as an option?

Another question about applying for a soft power DTV to study Thai language. In the Los Angeles consulate website, the only ED visa offered is for 90 days max. [members only]

But the DTV does not list Thai language-learning among the purposes.

So how are you supposed to apply for a 9- or 12-month language course?

Thanks for any ideas.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The query discusses the confusion surrounding the application for a longer-term visa (9- or 12-month) to study Thai language, given that the DTV (Digital Nomad Visa) does not explicitly mention language study. Responses clarify that studying Thai language typically requires an ED visa rather than a DTV and suggest starting with a short-term ED visa (3 months) that can be extended upon arriving in Thailand.

possible at some embassies. But just saying it's possible is not useful as the embassy the person is applying at might not accept it. So for them it is not possible.

Hi! From my understanding (I’m no expert) Thai language and massage courses are under education visa only. I don’t think that these institutions are yet switching to the DTvisa option. Probably it works better for them to stick with the ED visa. More money and more commitments from students. I did an ED visa for massage and it was no joke about the time commitment in order to keep the visa.

Muy Thai on the other hand never had a ED visa (to my knowledge).

I did soft power medical which was successful. I believe some other folks posted about soft power cooking course so maybe explore your options. Good luck!
