Another question about applying for a soft power DTV to study Thai language. In the Los Angeles consulate website, the only ED visa offered is for 90 days max. [members only]
But the DTV does not list Thai language-learning among the purposes.
So how are you supposed to apply for a 9- or 12-month language course?
Thanks for any ideas.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The question discusses the challenges in applying for a long-term visa (DTV) for studying Thai language, as the Los Angeles consulate only lists a 90-day ED visa. Comments provide various perspectives, clarifying that Thai language courses traditionally fall under the ED visa category rather than DTV. Users suggest starting with a 3-month ED visa and then extending upon arrival in Thailand, while others share personal experiences and advice regarding the visa processes.

possible at some embassies. But just saying it's possible is not useful as the embassy the person is applying at might not accept it. So for them it is not possible.
Never said it hasn't I asked what embassy. Just say which embassy then it can be searched in here Why ?? Is it a secret give accurate info not ambiguity
Hi! From my understanding (I’m no expert) Thai language and massage courses are under education visa only. I don’t think that these institutions are yet switching to the DTvisa option. Probably it works better for them to stick with the ED visa. More money and more commitments from students. I did an ED visa for massage and it was no joke about the time commitment in order to keep the visa.
Muy Thai on the other hand never had a ED visa (to my knowledge).
I did soft power medical which was successful. I believe some other folks posted about soft power cooking course so maybe explore your options. Good luck!
