TrueMoney with DTV??? How are DTV people upgrading to the advanced plan? It looks like they only allow supporting documents by non-immigrant and student visas holders for the advanced plan. The basic plan does not allow “scan to pay”, so it’s essentially useless.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Inquiries about upgrading to the advanced plan of TrueMoney using a DTV visa reveal various methods among users. Key points include submitting documents such as the DTV visa printout, receipt, and passport with a DTV stamp. Some users have successfully upgraded within hours while others faced denials but overcame hurdles with customer support assistance. Concerns about the basic plan's limitations, particularly regarding payment functionalities like 'scan to pay,' were also noted, indicating a preference for cashless options in transactions.

I spoke to support as there was no option for DTV visa, they told me I could use my Thai driving license.

I just followed the instructions and got the advanced account within hours with my DTV. I've been using it without trouble until now.

What can you do in the basic version?

you can buy things in 7-11, Tesco, big c, anywhere that accepts TurMoney payment. Online shopping too. Also transfer to friends on true money. Dude said it's useless but it's actually very useful. Plus, most Thai people have truemoney, so even if you didn't upgrade, you can scan plenty of mom and pop places cuz many are happy to accept a private transfer on their phones.

But yeah, upgrading to full account is easy too, and then you can scan PromptPay (the QR payment everyone else is using).

I have a Thai bank but still use true money often cuz 7-11 doesn't do PromptPay, only truemoney wallet.

thanks for the info can you pay for a taxi with truemoney?

Is it possible to upgrade your account on a DTV visa? Someone said you can contact customer support and they will upgrade you?
Jay **********
@Lucie *****
yes, you can upgrade it. I've helped friends do it. Just select long stay visa and take pics of your printed visa. If the auto system doesn't work, call customer service.

You can use truemoney for grab, but with individual taxis, you have to ask the driver

I think LINE can pay some bills too if needed 🥲 I just signed up for it; not used yet.

Zero problem upgrading. Scanned Thai license and was approved in 20 mins.

But compared to Moreta, TrueMoney is kind of pointless since you can’t really top up without cash which defeats the whole purpose
Derek *****
u can give cash to a friend, Thai or whatever, and they can top up. I doubt a (trusted) friend would run off with a few thousand baht.

@Derek ****
why would I have cash if I wanted to use TrueMoney? The whole point is to not withdraw cash…
Derek *****
Well then transfer funds to ur friend via Wise and ask them to top up ur TrueMoney. Same thing

I tried multiple times with my dtv and got denied but if you get on with customer service they'll help. I did and they upgraded me.

You click "non o" option, take a photo of your dtv visa (paper printout), your reciept of the visa (also paper printout), take a photo of your passport with the DTV stamp, and enter freelancer as employer in thailand. And your address.

I submitted exactly the same as you did, and got advanced features approved in a few hours.

i just submitted using these steps, so we’ll see if it works. the picture of the visa stamp from my passport doesn’t include the personal identifying information page of the passport, so i’m not sure how it would be acceptable but i’m willing to give it a shot.

thailand really doesn’t want to make it convenient or easy for non-locals to spend money here.

@David ****
and no need to send in the photo page, just the page with your latest dtv stamp

@David ****
yeah its very confusing since there is no dtv option :) but it gets easier when its verified. Just remember they might deny it if you cant see the whole page in the photo, i had to re-send it 3 times. Took like 72 hours, but now i can scan and pay etc with no issues.
