Does the originating Ampur of the Kor Ror 22 affect the application for a non-immigrant "O" extension in Jomtien?

Good afternoon all,

I have a question regarding when applying for a non-immigrant "O" one year extension based on marriage to a Thai national. Does the Ampur whom you obtain your kor ror 22 form matter jurisdictionally regarding where you can apply for the one year extension? I plan to apply for my one year extension in Jomtien. Will it be a problem if I obtained our kor ror 22 (recognizing our legal marriage in Thailand) from the Ampur in Bangkok? In other words, will the immigration office in Jomtien require that our marriage and kor ror 22 came from their jurisdiction and where we plan to reside, being Pattaya? Thank you all in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The originating Ampur for the Kor Ror 22 form does not matter for the application for a one-year extension based on marriage to a Thai national. You can apply for your extension at the immigration office in Jomtien regardless of whether your Kor Ror 22 was obtained from an Ampur in Bangkok, as long as the form is original and less than a year old. Additionally, ensure you have a TM30 filed to confirm your residence in the Jomtien area.

Most immigration offices require a Kor Ror 22 <- registration of a thai married abroad, or the Kor Ror 2 <- registration of a thai married inside thailand to be at less than a year old.

ANY amphur can re-print that form for you, and as long as you have a TM30 filed <- notification of foreigner in residence showing you live/stay in the area served by the immigration off you shouldn't have any issue getting an extension at that office.

, I have a quick related question if you don't mind. You mentioned that when applying for an extension my kor ror 22 needs to be less than a year old? Does that mean for subsequent extension applications in the following years I will need to continue to register my marriage from abroad at the Ampur annually to update the kor ror 22? Or is my initial registration at the Ampur which I do for my first extension request a "one and done" and I merely need to obtain a new copy of the original kor ror 22 with a date stamp annually at the time of my extension request? Thanks

you're not re-registering it every year, you're getting a NEW certificate printed with the date you requested it be re-printed on it. The registration date of the marriage to a thai abroad is the same as it always is.

The request to re-print that Kor Ror 2 (if you're married in country) or the Kor Ror 22 (if you married abroad) is the only way the immigration office can ascertain you're still married.

I think the cost to re-print either of those forms is 20 baht, and I usually tell people just put it on the list of things to do every year, like get the bank letter, update the bank book, take new photos, etc

, good to know that I should inquire as to any new guidelines and possible revisions to the requirements. Thank you very much!

@Ken *******
each office sets their own "rules" about how old they will accept the Kor Ror form, and the O/P is using Jomtien immigrations not Phuket, but thanx for the update (y)

No matter where you were married, as long as you have the original Kor Ror 22
