TLDR : Answer Summary
The financial requirement for a Thai visa is typically 500,000 baht; however, some embassies may accept an equivalent amount in foreign currency, such as $15,000 USD. It's recommended to consult the specific embassy or consulate you are applying to for detailed requirements, as they can vary based on location. Additionally, considering exchange rate fluctuations, it may be wise to show an account balance exceeding the minimum required amount.

Does it have to be a Thai bank account?

Careful!!! it is 500k, but everybody has a different exchangerate. i recommend you go in at least with 16k or 17k usd to be safe due to currency fluctuations. the process can take some weeks, if the usd drops, you might be short in the end. (experience driven, no guess).

Every embassy is different Budapest all I had to show is I had made that in three months . Didn’t ask for bank statement to pay statements for soft power medical

It will be 500,000 thb at current exchange rate. That fluctuates, so make sure it’s more. 😉

And always double check with the embassy you apply to. As they may be fixed in currency as well.

Rule of thumb will be 500k though

The amount equivalent of THB 500,000 in your bank account (any bank) would work. Currency exchange rate reference is the only factor you need to consider.

What each embassy fixes, if using a local currency account. If using a Thai bank account, then 500,000 baht.

Why would they use a foreign currency? 🙃

Of course it's THB.

Anonymous participant It's just to give you an idea of how much that is. Ignore USD and make sure it's today's rate for 500k THB.
John *******
Anonymous participant when was that updated last? As you may know, the exchange rate has changed a lot over the last few months

@Dominic *****
many embassies fix an amount on their local currency. For example, some European countries 16.000 euro, South Korea 20 million won etc. There's not a huge difference, tho.

What does the embassy say? They issue the visa.

Anonymous participant it depends on the Thai Embassy or Consulate in the country where the DTV Visa Application will be made. Not all are the same.

While that reply is nice to see, what really counts is what's the Thai Embassy or Consulate says where you are making application for the DTV Visa.

Anonymous participant I would say if you have a Thai bank account 500k would pull it up, if US account it's $16,000
Elías ********
Participante anónimo then it's clear. 500K if in baht, or 16K if in USD.
