Does Thailand have a residency requirement on her visas?
I know that long term visas from some countries have a residency requirement per year. I have not found any information about this in Thailand. The only thing that is remotely close is the need to file tax if you stay in Thailand for more than 180 days in a year, just wondering.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Thailand does not have a residency requirement for its long-term visas, such as the Non-O visa, allowing expats to come and go as they please. However, if a foreigner stays in Thailand for more than 180 days in a year, they may be classified as a tax resident and could be subject to taxation. While some countries impose residency requirements tied to long-term visas, this is not the case in Thailand, unless pursuing permanent residency.
LONG TERM RESIDENT (LTR) VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
there telling people no TIN unless you earn in Thailand and have a bank account so I’ve told you before file if you like but quit telling people they have have to file because it’s rubbish
everybody's situation is different but if you bring assessable income into Thailand in any year you are a Thai tax resident then you are legally obliged to file a Thai tax return. If you don't bring in any assessable income then you are not required to file a Thai tax return. There are also other reasons you might want a TIN quite separate from having to file taxes.
Bob D'Andrea I am gathering information from various groups to make an informed decision. From what I gathered, unless you are holding a LTR visa, if you stay in Thailand for more than 180 days, you are considered a tax resident and may be subjected to taxation.
the revenue department will never contact you and tell you to file taxes. They will only ever contact you if they believe you didn't file when you should have and want to audit you. If you didn't file when you should have penalties will be imposed
I was looking into Malaysia's program and it has a 90 days residency requirement, Portugal's program has a 180 days requirement. Both do not necessarily pave ways for permanent residency status.
CleverFrog1651 all stay permits out of the different visa-classes for foreigners are only temporary, not meant for permanent residency. Not even when you stay longer than 180 days per calendar year (unless you file for permanent residency status)
