Will the AIS shop at the airport give you an empty SIM card or do you have to buy a package?

TLDR : Answer Summary
At the AIS shop in the airport, you cannot simply get an empty SIM card; you must purchase a package. They offer short-term traveler packages with fixed prices that typically include a small load of data or minutes. These packages are available at several phone shops in the arrivals hall of airports like BKK Suvarnabhumi. Travelers often choose data-only SIMs, with options like a 999 Baht plan for 30 days of unlimited data.

Assuming you are referring to BKK Suvarnabhumi airport … there are a dozen phone shops in the Arrivals hall (near the baggage carousels), selling a variety of SIM packages. I normally buy a 999 Baht 30 day data-only SIM, with unlimited (and fast) data. For less than $1 per day, I never have to logon to a dodgy WiFi the whole time I’m here, a real bargain. Happy trails.

The SIM always comes with a small load. You can choose/ change the package as you want at any phone shop or Tops market. 7/eleven and AIS got divorced many years ago.

They sell short term traveller packages at the airport. Fixed one time price, data/minutes expire in a couple of months.
I have one of these I simply kept topping up on a phone app.
Would like an empty SIM card. I know some third party places that sell them for like ฿40 in the city, just wondering if anyone knows if you can get one at the airport.
