Hi, travelling to Thailand land early morning and can't get access to where i am staying till mid afternoon or the option of even leaving our luggage until we can get access, do the shopping malls have the option to be able to leave our luggage while shopping in the mall? Don't want to have to carry luggage around for four/five hours.
Answer summary
The user inquires about options to leave their luggage while waiting to check into their accommodation after an early arrival in Thailand. Several comments highlight that most hotels will store luggage before check-in, encouraging the user to ask their hotel directly. Additionally, some commenters mention that certain shopping malls and the airport have luggage storage services available. A few individuals point out that if the user has booked a condo, it may not have luggage storage facilities, thereby suggesting alternative options like short-term hotel stays or asking for assistance at the airport.

Go to a spa for a few hours, shower, sauna, eat, relax and they will look after your luggage.

Just ask airport customer services. They will tell you the most appropriate location.

There are options for storing luggage at the airport as well. You just need to ASK!!

Why not go straight to the hotel youre booked with, and tell them youre very early, ask to store yr luggage in the hotel. Most times, they cooperate by throwing a netting over yr luggage or storing in their cupboard if space allows. They want your custom!! They will surely find a way to store yr luggage for you if you just turn up early. Especially if youve come long distance....

Any hotel that refuses to "store" your bags before you check in is not worth the price of admission

I once arrived in Pattaya, checked in for 2 nights. Booked a boat to stay on a near island for4 days. The hotel we stayed at in Pattaya let us keep our luggage at this hotel while we traveled to the island for free.

Who told you you couldn't leave your luggage at the hotel until you check in? most of the time you can check in early. Sometimes you don't have to pay; other times it's a small fee but you ask them when you get there. If they don't have a room available then you ask them if you can leave your luggage and come back and it's usually fine.

Leave your luggage at reception, ask if you can check in early, unless you booked a suite or deluxe room, they might have empty rooms

Go to your hotel, tell them you're checking in later that day, normally they will have somewhere for you to leave your luggage.....

I went to my hotel at 08:00 am, they let me leave my luggage, offered the use of toilet and shower, gave me a complimentary breakfast and coffee

Most of the shopping malls don't open until 10am you'll have to find something else to do earlier. You can leave your luggage at the hotel, they'll store it until you return to check in. Keep your umbrella handy though.

There’s an option down in the lowest airport level, just above the trains. There’s a luggage storage place there that proved excellent previously for me, late last year. They will look after your luggage and can also transfer it on to your hotel as I had done. Left the luggage with them, got the train into Bangkok and had a rake about and some food before heading to the hotel at 14:00. Cases got delivered hassle free a couple of hours later. Suvarnabhumi.

God forbid people book a room from the night before. Being able to check in on arrival, freshen up etc has “value”. Why do people get brain freeze over an obvious solution.

We have already booked a condo on the same day as we arrive for four nights in Bangkok it i cancel no refunds, other Asian countries Vietnam/Malaysia/Indonesia/Philippines, all have places that for a fee can leave your luggag.

Rodger W Connell if your condo isn’t far from the airport, leave your luggage at the airport, they have a service, it’s reasonable

So why didn't you book it from the day before and arrange key pick up on arrival ? They won't let you store luggage in condos. Rentals under 30 days are illegal in Thailand (unless owner has a hotel license), and owners despise AirBnb type renters, treating the condo like a hotel. Book a hotel and don't expect hotel type services at a residential condo.

OP
TaupeRaspberry5284 Why would i book and have to pay a day before i arrive? I had no idea that Airbnb was not allowed in Thailand for short term rental the first i knew was after i booked and paid, the owner sent us a email saying that their driver would collect us from the airport and not to have any contact with the reception, and if asked we were to say the we were relatives of the owner when i questioned this approach was told that short term Airbnb rental was a "gray area" which i am now aware is untrue.

I have lived and worked in Asia for many decades and never come across this before.

The issues for us, is we are arriving early and the third person in our group is arriving at another airport and at a different time, so the owner instructions that they will pick us at airport does not work so that's why i was asking if there was somewhere we could leave our luggage save having to drag it around for several hours.

We have told the owner that we will wait until the other person arrives and meet them in Bangkok and the driver can pick us all up and get us into the condo, in all my travels never had a situation like this with renting condos.

Rodger W Connell well it's a condo, not a hotel, so I am not really that surprised they do not have luggage storage. Google storage lockers .

If you’re arriving very early in the morning, the malls may not be open yet, and I don’t think they have a sort of concierge luggage storage if that’s what you’re looking for. There’s lots of luggage storage right around Terminal 21, though, including lockers right at the BTS stop. You can also use Airbnb to search for

luggage storage now (they partnered with Bounce, and I think you get a discount if you book through Airbnb, but you could also go directly to Bounce).

It's low season, when you get to your hotel there is a good chance your room is already ready, if not just leave your luggage and return at the check-in time

It would be extremely unusual for a hotel not to allow you to leave your luggage there until check in time if you have a reservation ?

You should go there and ask and I expect they will store your bags

Rodger W Connell I assume you are aware that short term Condo rentals of less than 30 days like Air B&B are actually illegal in Thailand unless the owner has a hotel license..

And the vast majority DO NOT have a hotel license..

Although it rarely happens you do risk eviction by the police at no notice..

Good luck 👍

Rodger W Connell store it at the airport. Imagine, lots of travellers at airports ask this same question. The solution is, ASK airport customer services first, they will direct you to the appropriate storage facility!!

the same reason that Uber operated and still operates on many countries illegally. Money. They make more money than they lose from potential fines. It's a business decision.

OP
BazaarAsia57 To be very truthful until after i had booked i was unaware of this, it was the message from the owner that they would pick us up from the airport and only deal with our driver and have no contact with the reception? I became very suspicious and did some more research and found out that short term Airbnb was not allowed, i had already paid and it was no refundable.

I am not idiot i have lived and worked around the world, but have been living in the Philippines for over a decade and operate two award winning international tourists accommodation and use Airbnb, really fail to understand why Airbnb allow these owners to on their site? They are loads of owners openly advising not just on Airbnb but Booking.com Agoda and the powers that be don't stop this? That's the reason i am asking where i can leave our luggage as we can't leave our luggage at the condo building.
