TLDR : Answer Summary
If you hold a retirement extension of stay, you do not need to show a return ticket when entering Thailand. It's important to have obtained the retirement extension and any applicable multiple re-entry permits while you were in Thailand. If you are traveling back for the first time with this extension, you should be fine without an onward ticket.

Okay, you're NOT gonna need to show a return ticket, BUT I'm confused. You CAN'T get a retirement extension or a multiple re-entry permit out side the country, yet you say this is your first time entering the country on it.
Then in another post you say you have a retirement visa & a multiple re-entry permit.
My question is; did you get a yearly extension of stay based on retirement and a multiple re-entry permit in thailand BEFORE you left,
OR
Did you buy a visa based on retirement at a thai consulate while you were out of thaialnd?
You mean a Retirement Visa, one year valid. If you did the Re-Entry before leaving the country, no problem, if you don't have, you will loose the Re. visa and have to start again!
