TLDR : Answer Summary
When arriving in Thailand on a Non Imm O-A long stay visa, it is generally not necessary to show an outbound flight. Most comments from the community confirm that the visa allows for entry without a return ticket. If questioned by airline staff, showing the visa and asking to speak to a supervisor might help. Additionally, while your visa is valid for one year and can be extended by leaving and re-entering Thailand, make sure to understand the requirements such as filing a 90-day report if staying longer than three months, and obtaining health insurance for the duration of your visa.

Go on your countries Thai Embassy web site and look under the visa section. There are ofcourse many many different visas all explained there. Look for Non Immigrant O long stay visas, O-A 1 year and O-X 5 year

I’ve gone six times in the last seven years along with two border runs and not once was I ever asked for an outbound ticket nor did I ever have one

One time going to the Philippines, the airline asked-insisted and I just booked the ticket

But never to Thailand

Is this even a real concern?

I mean “if” they’ve said you need one why can’t you just pull up your phone and get one???

They’re going to get you on a return flight and they are going to pay for it??

No they’re gonna make you pay for it so just buy an outbound ticket to Singapore one way and say oh here is an outbound flight

It can be made into a 2 year visa by leaving a fews days before it expires and coming back to Thailand. Each entry is 1 year, but if you stay more than 3 months without leaving, you will need to do a 90 day report. Simple process. Explained multiple times before in this group.

Yep I am on same. Be sure to get a re-entry permit.

@Ադամ *******
do you need to get a re-entry permit even if you have the OA with multi entry attached?

sorry mate not understand what you wrote.

Your OA visa will have a "Visa must be used by" date. For example it is Dec 31 2023. Until then you can go and come as many times as you wish every time stamped in for one year. You do not need a re-entry permit by definition as it it is a multi entry visa. Then in this example If you fly to Thailand on New Years Eve you will be stamped in until Dec 30 2024. 「From then if you want to leave Thailand without getting a new visa or doing visa exempt you need a single or multi reentry permit to protect that last entry, because your original visa is no longer valid. There is no two year visa actually, that is just is a way of saying you got near two years stay power from one 1 year visa. Insurance is another issue.」

I got my last O/A visa Dec 2021 and I am good until
*******
thanks to the re-entry permit.

just necessary in the second year if you leave, not needed until after the first year expires.

The other issue is you must purchase another year of insurance, or have an acceptable certificate. Showed both certtificates at BKK on the final entry before vslid until date, no issues. Once I got the multi-reentry permit, the easiest of all.

Yes you assume correct 👍

Correct. If your airline asks, show them the visa.
Stuart *********
No need for a onward or return ticket on that visa. Your check-in clerk may not know that but if questioned ask for a supervisor.

thats my worry Stuart. It may just be easier to show a cheap outbound flight to cambodia or similar. Just my luck to get a jobsworth at the check in desk
