Hi, just wanting to get some advice...

I'm planning to arrive into Thailand on 1st July. I understand all restrictions by lifted by then, but I was wondering whether i still have to purchase covid insurance or does this not apply anymore? If so, how much cover is it required?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among commenters is that while there are rumors that COVID restrictions may be lifted by July, it is not confirmed, and therefore, purchasing COVID insurance is still advisable until any official changes are announced. It is suggested to check back closer to the date and plan for travel insurance regardless, as hospital costs abroad can be high.

Travel at any time anywhere you should have insurance. Hospitalisation/treatment costs money. I guess the logic is, if you can't afford insurance you can't afford going to hospital.

yup totally agree. Travel insurance is necessay w foreign travel. Your local insurance probably will not cover your expense, especially if you need an airlift from a remote location. It happens.

You'd be crazy to plan a trip to Thailand for the 1st of any month. You need to wait until at least the 5th if not later because they usually only publish the laws to change restrictions on the last day of the month so no one has time to plan and airlines don't have time to update their policies. So if you try to arrive July 1st you're going to have to meet all requirements from before there are any changes because you're doing all your planning and booking under the old rules.

It's the same every month and people moan and complain but they do it to themselves.

Should plan travel insurance anyway, but like everyone says who knows

Still required until officially removed and no one knows yet when that will be. Rumours about all being dropped but just rumours

There is press conjecture that they may be lifted by then, but at this stage it’s pure speculation. No one knows what the rules will be in 2 weeks, let alone July.
