Potentially a stupid question.

Do I have to transfer the student visa into the new passport if cancelling soon?

My under 18 student will cancel the student visa, leave the country for 8 days, return on a tourist visa, stay 50 days then leave Thailand permanently. Is the hassle of transferring the visa to the new passport necessary of were going to cancel it 2 weeks later?

Why not just transfer the stamps AND cancel the extension at the same time?

Shouldn't have an issue doing that at all at the immigration office where the extension was issued
