Hello everyone. I bought a sim for my GPS here in Thailand. I paid the company for a year and in only four months it has stopped working. Do I need to top up this sim to keep it active? TIA

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is experiencing issues with a SIM card purchased in Thailand that stopped working after four months, despite paying for a year. Comments from the community suggest that topping up may be necessary, as data packages often expire. Additionally, there are recommendations to contact the SIM provider to check the account status, and warnings about potentially misleading one-year deals from certain shops.

There seems to be doubt on year long deals/sims... Yes there many deals that have a full year and they are great deals. I got one for my son 1350baht, 30mbs unlimited and free calls to dtac. Many similar on lazada etc...
In this case I suspect it may have been a bit of a scam, I've heard of these deals sold in shops as 12 months and only are infact only a short term deal, some as short a week! This was happening at the subvarnibumi phone shops especially due to the customer being long gone.... ๐

You can download the sim provider app to check data balance, not sure what do you mean by paid for 1 year
why not tell us the company. I change my AIS to the baht Hahn promotion 30pm and top up in Australia by running the ssid script...my Sim is a tad under 10 years.

State the provider. You paid what company?

One would assume you would top up. Data packages dont last forever. Go to who ever you got the sim from and ask them to check it
