Can I get a clear answer from those who applied from USA or Vietnam?

If applying through language school or muay yhai, were you asked to show monthly income despite having the savings?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation centers around inquiries about applying for a Thai visa through language schools or muay thai training, specifically whether proof of monthly income is necessary when having sufficient savings. Responses indicate that if one applies for an Education Visa (ED) for language studies or soft power activities, it may be standard to demonstrate financial means for the duration of the visa. Some users shared their personal experiences, stating that not every applicant is asked to prove income based on their own situations.

I said I was retired, and they didn't ask any more questions.

For Thai language you normally need an ED visa and they won't usually give a DTV for it. And it is also normal for those applying for soft power to be asked to show how they can support yourself for the duration of the visa. If you have lots of savings over and above the 500k required in the application that should suffice

There is only 1 website, used world wide on the world wide web to apply for a visa.

You apply using the Thai Embassy or Thai Consulate in the area where you are.

You answer the questions asked on this website after choosing the correct visa for your purpose of visit.

Seems like you haven't even read the application form yet. That's step one. Also you need an education visa for language schools, that's not a soft power activity

incorrect you can do language for DTV its under culture. This is comming from Chiang Mai University Language Institute that does DTV and Student Visa. If you look at alot of language classes they have a 12 month package and a 6 by 6 package - this one is used by DTV holders.

@Andrew *******
that is an exception and not the rule.

I not agree with people who tell you that an University is doing DTV and Student visa.

I also not believe there is a 12 month package, as the DTV is valid for 5 years and a Student visa is only valid for 90 days.

But if you think so, visit Immigration for a degree in engineering

Lol ok im on a student visa i pay to extend my visa every three months. I can do this for 1 year. Then I have to leave thailand and re-apply for another visa come back in. Student visa you register for a class for 1 year as the education ministry grants you permission to study for 1 year.

The DTV is valid for 5 years and can only stay in country for 6 months.

I stay in the country the whole time.

Or at the end of the year I leave thailand and come back a few days later under visa exempt and convert my visa to student visa while in country.

You can choose to beleive what you wish im telling you how it works.

You have an Ed Visa... not a DTV visa.

Have you really looked at the Permanent Residence requirements for Thailand? It's far more than learning to be able to speak Thai, it also requires many years..4

...as working and paying Thai income taxes.

@Andrew *******
Most embassies have said no to language - only 1 or 2 people have said they were successful via the London embassy.
Andrew ********
DTV_BegPecker I love how you people come on here and say that when I know MANY who have posted in here saying they have DTV for language - i also find it funny that everyone thinks embassy is the end all of visa they are not they have people over them - apply with a school that assist you with the paper work.

They send you the packet to file everything is done for you by the school

@Andrew *******
Please show these many posts on here with people having DTV via language, other than the guy who said he got it via the language center near the Chong Nonsi BTS stop. Also, the embassy is the end all of visas. Each embassy has the discretion to approval/reject. There is no appeal process that goes above them. This is why one can submit the same application in one location and get rejected and then submit it in another location and get approved.

@James *******
- This is an example where the approved soft power activities have been coupled with language. If you signed up for a language course, it wouldn’t count
James ********
I'm aware of that... that's why I posted the information. Thank You 👍

- As you can see in the photo that you shared, this package includes “soft power” cultural activities, which coincides with the DTV soft power option. Thai langue coursework is listed as a seperate bullet in the list of included items.

And that's why I posted it. Thank You 👍

Agreed it's the decision by the Thai Embassy or Consulate where the DTV application is submitted using the Evisa online application system.

However there are several DTV qualified Thai language study and Thai Culture study which is being used by DTV visa applicants.
Andrew ********
I also do my due diligence getting information - language is culture i have studied many different languages if an embassy doesnt see language as culture then thats their short sighted view to study language is to study the culture to where its from

@Andrew *******
- I got it. You have no evidence, just another disgruntled dude. Yes, like I initially said, someone said they were successful with the London embassy, but those in Southeast Asia have usually denied based on Thai language alone. So that is my point. Your point was that the embassy has “people over them”, which clearly is a different point. Now, the way some programs get around it is by offering cultural programming/training in addition to the language and some embassies will approve you based off of the cultural programming/training. I don’t think your analysis that the embassy doesn’t see language as culture is correct, but that language is already overseen by another visa, like the one you have, the ED. Enjoy your day.
Andrew ********
You just proved my point - one embassy isnt the end all to visa applying at another location - im not going through every single post on this page I got better things to do with my time
