Do I need to provide payslips or contracts for my DTV application if I receive dividends instead of a salary?

Hi guys,

I'm about to apply for my DTV.

I don't pay myself a salary, instead I pay myself 4 dividends a year from my UK based Limited company.

Each dividend is way more than 10k English.

Will that be suffice? Or do I need to show payslips, work contracts etc?

Any advice would be much appreciated,

Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether dividends from a UK limited company are sufficient for their DTV application in Thailand, instead of a traditional salary. Comments indicate that having a bank statement showing a minimum balance of 500,000 THB might suffice, and excess documentation (like payslips) may not be necessary. However, there are varying experiences among users, suggesting it's best to provide comprehensive information when applying.

Steady income is not a requirement. History of funds in bank should be enough.

As long as your bank statement has minimum 500k thb, it’s all good. No pay slip required. Just had DTV a week ago.

Hi, Su, sorry to jump in but I have a question. So as long as the bank statement has minimum 500k thb, we don't need to provide any additional paper work? or do we still need employment letter?
Su ********
@Mojiko ********
yes. Based on the purpose of visit you select. Bank statement is just one of the requirements. You still need to provide others.

Seems it's more simple that I first anticipated. Thank you. 👍

They need to see that you are employed and have more than 500k baht in your name.

That's what I was angling more towards. So I wonder if me showing myself as a company director, will be enough? I don't have a work contract, nor do I have weekly/monthly wage slips. Literally, just four substantial dividend payments a year. Let's see, worth a try.

I wrote them a letter explaining what the company did and how I can work remotely and mentioned a salary and dividend basis of payment. I provided them my last P60 and annual return as proof of business ownership.

Can you show sufficient bank balance instead? Probably much easier and straight forward.

Yeah, no problem there once I pay myself my quarterly dividend, although it dips well below that 10k, usually in the last month or so of each quarter.

I just wonder if they're going to ask where the money comes from. I literally have 4 payments a year from my business to my personal account, with no contract or PAYE, and just companies house records showing a long standing Limited company.

It's always worked, and keeps things simple (for me).

I guess, worst case scenario, I lose the 10,000thb for the application process.

Let's see what happens.

they usually don’t ask these questions although it varies a bit from embassy to embassy. You could transfer something a day before the statement closes, hand it in and then that’s sufficient

OK brill, if it is that simple, then no problem at all. I guess I'll soon find out. Thanks, Seb.

What on earth is 10k English?

I believe we need to show 500k THB, which I believe equates to approximately 10k English, also known as 'British, GBP or Sterling'.

I hope that now makes sense....😬

@Daniel *********
GBP is a thing. Sterling is a thing. English is not.

I get tired of people assuming I'm English.....🤣🤦‍♂️
