Sorry to ask as know this has been asked a thousand times before. Basically I would like to know if I still have to keep the 400,000baht in my account ( First application) or can I simply just use the 40,000 a month when applying for my marriage extension and remove the 400,000 from my account?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires whether they can withdraw the 400,000 baht required for their first application for a marriage extension in Thailand and rely on the 40,000 baht monthly income instead. Comments clarify that for the first application, maintaining the 400,000 baht for at least 2 months is necessary. For subsequent applications, proof of 12 consecutive monthly payments of 40,000 baht will substitute the initial 400,000 baht requirement. Additionally, users advised consulting the local immigration office to confirm acceptance of the monthly income method and clarifications regarding fund sources and documentation.

DO NOT 🚫 TOUCH the 400,000 Thai baht in your Thai bank account UNTIL YOU HAVE the one year STAMP in your passport.

, the first thing you NEED to do is checking with your local immigration office IF they really let you do it and the conditions if you can meet.

Yes as soon as you get the extension approved. They will probably give a 30 day under consideration stamp and may want to check you still have the 400k when you go back to close it out. Remember it’s 40k for 12 months on the day you apply for the next one NOT 12 months on the expiry date

First application is 400k minimum 2 months before application date for yearly extension. You then need 12 consecutive payments of 40k minimum ( not averaged) on the date you apply for your second annual extension

You need to ask your local immigration office if they accept the monthly income method for your marriage extension, and details if they do.

Most offices accept monthly income methods when you have a work permit and are working legally. Some may accept when you have proof of international transfer for each month's transfer and might be with the source of the funds outside of Thailand.
