Just sat a chaeng watthana for 5 hours (I managed to miss my first number be called 🙄😂) to do my first 90 day report. Then when I was seen I was told I don’t need to do a 90 day report because I haven’t applied for my year long extension of stay yet and it’s only for those on an extension. I arrived in Thailand 28 November on a tourist visa and extended before obtaining a non b which runs out in April.
Due to family circumstances I am going home next week and despite going back and explaining this and checking again with the officer I am worried that I will get fined at the airport for not reporting as my school and friends are certain that I needed too.
Can anyone shine a light on whether it was correct for them to turn me away? Has anyone else had a similar experience?
My school have assured me they will cancel my permit before I leave Thailand. Is this right? They have kept the permit in their possession but I have got a copy of it to keep in case I need it. Could anyone advise whether there anything else I need to take care of before I leave Thailand?

They are concerned about potential fines at the airport despite being informed by an immigration officer that a 90-day report is unnecessary in their situation.

I came on 28th nov, extended once and then swapped to non b. I have gone over my 90 days as I didn’t know about reporting so was worried about getting fined today but then they said no need.
