My bank account was created by my mom a long time ago and my bank statements still show her name as well as mine (both under primary). Does anybody think this would be a concern when applying.
Answer summary
Many users shared their experiences regarding the use of joint bank accounts in visa applications. While some consulate offices may not accept joint accounts or have minimum balance requirements, others reported no issues when applying with accounts that included a parent as a joint holder. It's recommended to provide a cover letter explaining the situation and possibly include proof of sole access to the account. Overall, the presence of a parent's name on the account may not be a major issue if properly addressed.

Same here but no wasn’t an issue they didn’t even ask
My bank account had my dad’s name on it too, I just also sent a copy of my birth certificate (as they had requested it back when I applied for an old tourist)
You can explain that in your country of origin, it is common practice for parents to be listed as joint account holders to prevent young people from mismanaging funds. The consular officer will likely view this positively, seeing you as a responsible young man who enjoys strong family guidance and support
Editor needs to filter relating to real issues and changes .. I appreciate day to day problems we ALL have today ! Keep it real .. genuine people and post know what is happening… KEEP IT REAL
Explain the account with a cover letter also if you can show only you access it would also be helpful however I wouldnt say its an issue or not all depends on the person processing your application at the time - also I would be ready to source the funds in the account to show the money is yours how it was earned as well
I was approved via Hanoi and didn’t have a problem, I have a military bank account and my mother made it when I was born. I am the primary owner while she is a joint owner however the account is strictly mine. It shouldn’t be a problem but make sure to explain with a cover letter.
