If you are arriving with Non O visas from your home country, do you need to have a return trip ticket upon arrival?
Answer summary
When arriving in Thailand with a Non-O visa, it is generally not required to have a return ticket. Multiple comments indicate that travelers with a Non-O visa have not been asked for proof of onward travel or cash during their entry. This contrasts with the requirements for tourist visas, where proof of onward travel may be necessary.

It's the difference of entering on a tourist visa where you need proof of onward traveland a long-term visa where you don't need onward travel.

No but the airline gate agent is not an expert on immigration law to 180 countries. You may have an issue with them. You know how some people are. They go to a meeting and hear passengers need that ticket without understanding the whole situation. Then in their minds everyone needs an onward ticket.

William Crowthers they input your data at check in

If you are returning outside your visa validity you could be refused boarding but easily sorted with a out bound flight in side your visa limit

I’ve never once been asked about money, return flights or accommodation, on a normal tourist visa. So I would presume that now I have my Non O visa, I should definitely be ok.

Slightly off subject but I see often that you need 20k baht cash on arrival , is there a maximum ? I usually arrive with about $9k US , is this ok ?

there is no maximum amount of money you can bring in. But you need to be aware of the declaration limits, both for the country you are departing from and the arrival country. Cash over a certain amount must be declared at customs

That’s absolutely correct. I live in Australia. The maximum amount of cash money, I’m allowed to travel with, is $10,000AUS. Anything over, needs to be declared. Reason being, customs are cracking down on laundered money. I’m unaware of the limits, if any, when entering Thailand?

I arrive on visa exempt but I will get the appropriate visa soon as I am spending more time in Thailand and less in the US .

I bring $100 bills for a slightly better exchange rate and have been arriving with 7-9k US .

I went to Japan in August and the Yen maximum was less than 8k US equivalent , this was on an arrival form that I filled out on the plane , I still don’t know if there is a maximum undeclared amount that you can bring to Thailand , it’s not on the TDAC .

I think the Thai gov is trying to crack down on scammers and dirty money … we usually have 4 to 5k dollars when we travel and we have never made any declaration or been questioned in any way! If you are entering on a non o you already provided proof of financial responsibility so the 20k in Bhat doesn’t matter that is for a tourist, and it is required but not commonly asked for is what I understand

Thanks , I keep it under $10k US , so it sounds like that’s cool then .

@Robbie ******
that's only for tourist entries. You've already proven sufficient funds for your entry and stay when you applied for the visa.

I arrive on a visa exempt. I was asking because I recently went to Japan and I had more cash than what they allowed for entry . $10k is the max to leave the US with (undeclared) , I just wondered is there a maximum for arriving in Thailand ? On visa exempt .
