TLDR : Answer Summary
For a Non-O visa application, you do not need COVID insurance specifically for the visa itself; however, a COVID insurance policy covering at least USD 10,000 is required to obtain a ThaiPass for entry into Thailand. It is advised to check with the specific embassy you are applying from, as requirements can vary.

Depends on which embassy you are applying from. Check with them. I needed 800k baht plus in NZ

You don't actually need covid insurance for your visa. You must have covid insurance covering US$10,000 in order to get your ThaiPass to enter the country. This applies to everyone no matter what visa.
