I have a non o visa (due to marriage).  I need to fly back to the UK asap and my visa expires 21st August....so to return obviously I will apply for a new visa in the UK.  My question is, because my visa expires whilst I will be in the UK, do I need an exit visa?

Answer summary

If you have a Non-O visa based on marriage and it expires while you are in the UK, you do not need an exit visa to leave Thailand. Instead, once you exit Thailand, you will need to apply for a new single entry Non-O visa when you return to the UK. I'm going to assume if you look at your passport, you have a stamp that says "Extension of stay"

Unlike the UK, the concept of an "exit visa" does not exist for Thai immigration. There is a "re-entry permit" to keep your current extension of stay alive, however it will expire before you return.

To return to Thailand, you will need to get a new single entry Non-O visa based on marriage before returning.
