Do I need a return ticket when applying for a 12-month extension with a Non-O visa in Thailand?

We will be arriving on a Non-O visa with the intention of applying for the 12 month extension asap. My question is to others who have done this, did you have a return or onward journey book within the initial 90 days, for the arrival immigration to see? ( ie in case the extension doesn’t work out?).

Also this makes me think of another scenario, can we leave after 6 months in this first year and it not affect the extension? I understand I need to applying for a multi entry/exit extension I think. Thanks everyone 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 🇬🇧.
Answer summary
The question revolves around obtaining a 12-month extension on a Non-O visa and whether evidence of onward travel is required. Responses indicate that onward tickets are often not required for a Non-O visa. Additionally, it is confirmed that leaving Thailand after six months will not affect the extension if a re-entry permit is obtained. Advice includes applying for a multi-entry permit at the time of extension if needed.

Onward travel is not required for a non-immigrant visa.

There is no requirement about how much time you must spend in Thailand. You can leave with a re-entry permit the day after you get your extension, and return the day before your extension ends to apply for the next one.

I applied from Malaysia, literally a couple weeks ago, and there was no requirement for an onward ticket. I arrived in Thailand with the Non-O 90 Day visa. The only thing that was required was the TDAC and the date you are tentatively leaving, and I just listed 90 days from when I entered. But no proof of onward flight at all.

I applied via the Thai NZ embassy evisa and they specifically asked then for the onward ticket. Also when you get the 1 year extension, ask them for a multi reentry and they’ll do it for you at the same time. I had an appointment at Phuket in the afternoon and they asked me to come back the next day after 4pm and pick it all up. They also put a slip in the back with your 90 day report date which in my case was 90 days from the time I got my extension. Other peoples experiences may vary.

Cathy Odgers multiple re-entry permit is only worth it if you leave more than twice a year you can simply get a re-entry permit at the airport everytime you leave,I always get a single entry permit just incase I need to leave in a hurry.
