Recently got my Non-ED visa extended, I got the Ed plus stamp as below, it is written "exemption of re-entry permit", so I will not be needing to apply for a re entry permit as stated in the ED Plus poster?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion confirms that holders of the ED Plus visa extension in Thailand are exempt from needing a re-entry permit, allowing them to exit and re-enter the country freely. It is advisable for individuals to verify this with immigration officials when departing.

As per Thai Immigration Order #
********
(2024), dated 15 July 2024, implementing the ED Plus Visa, Extensions of Stay for Ed Plus, and changing to an ED Plus Visa (and getting an Extension of Stay) in-country, will all receive an Exemption for Re-Entry Permits

According to the infographic it means Student with ED visa can change their visas type (From ED to Work Visa) without leaving the country?

@Dor***
what that means is you can cancel your ED Plus visa extension and immediately apply for an in country Non-B visa (without having to exit get off the ED stamp and on to a free entry to apply for the in country Non-B

@Dor***
right it was specifically designed with international uni students in mind so they could find a job and then get the correct visa issued IN COUNTRY without having to exit/re-enter

you're the first person I've ever seen who got an ED Plus Extension <- those are issued AFTER you finish your degree and gives you one additional year to stay in thailand.

As you see the ED Plus extension is indeed "exempt" from requiring a re-entry permit. <- which at least to me means you can exit/re-enter all you want..

Even so, I would certainly talk to the immigration officer when you stamp OUT of the country to make sure they agree and everyone is on the same page.

Congrats on getting that extension (Y)

me too. I was not expecting to get it. And I still have one semester left of my master's degree. It's a good bonus I guess. Thanks for the info everyone!

hi tod,I also got ed plus visa extension yesterday and the officer confirmed that i don’t need a re-entry permit. Although new rules showed that students will get ed plus after graduation. But now every student is getting ed plus for extension also

@Zaina *****
and you got this thru a university course extension or from a private language school extension?

WOW that's great to hear that they're giving everyone on a degree program ED PLUS extensions, (y)

you appear to be correct, thank you for pointing it out 🙂

Wow... It's much easier with this new kind of visa. I used to struggle and spend so much for re-entry permit years ago.

Yes. You don't have to pay for re-entry stamp. How much did you pay for the visa?
Tod *********
@Thang ******
you can ONLY get that visa after you went thru a university course and got a degree on ED visa

then they sell you that ED plus for ONE year after you graduate so you can stay in thailand and look for job opportunities etc

@Tod ********
sorry, why do you think that? The picture says it's available for students studying bachelor degree or higher(see yellow background). The graduation thing relates to "+1 year extension for finding a work"(blue background). At least this is the way I understand that infographic.

@Vladimir *********
then you could indeed be correct, and it can be given to people who are still currently studying a degreed program. I tend to NOT trust b/s engrish info graphics and was looking around for the thai wording of what actually was passed in the Royal Gazette, but got side tracked

I can confirm that even new students on grad program (on their first extension) got the ed plus already (same process and cost as normal ed extension). This is for cu. Idk for undergrad but this is great news ☺️just because the rollout is new though, one of my grad friends didn’t get his stamp as it seems officer missed it so he had to go back and have it stamped.

thank you for that info (y)
