I'm in process for an ED visa and was told to go to either Penang or Vientiane. I'd prefer Penang. The KL website checklist says i need a "Certified criminal record in the applicant’s country of origin or in Thailand(for private course/program provider only"
Does this really mean I can come with EITHER an american OR a thai criminal record check? And I do NOT need both?
I have already tried emailing the embassy directly and they have returned a mass, form email that doesn't answer my question.
If anyone (especially americans) has recently applied for an ED visa in Penang or KL, I'd love to know what documents you had. If anyone knows for sure what I need, please do share :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the applicant's preference for obtaining an education (ED) visa in Penang over Kuala Lumpur and seeks clarification on the requirements for a criminal record check. The individual is unsure if they need to provide a criminal record from both their country of origin (the USA) and from Thailand, based on the information provided in the KL website checklist.
