TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the requirement of having 500,000 baht in the bank to apply for a long-term visa (DTV) in Thailand. Many commenters emphasize the importance of meeting this financial requirement, suggesting alternatives like borrowing, sponsorship letters, or waiting to save the amount. Others highlight the need to check with specific embassies as requirements may vary.

You'll need to meet the requirement or you'll get rejected

There is no income requirement, only an asset requirement of 500k baht.

PM me if you want solution for DTV.

Can you borrow from a family member just to get the visa?
Garry ******
Yes

Well yea.

If it’s not in the bank, then you don’t meet the requirement

Simple as that

Borrow from someone. Get it transferred into an account then move it to the account you are using for the application, save the statement and send the money back. If you are in the UK it will work.

Sounds dodgy

You can’t avoid it. 2.5k is good enough to live ok in Thailand. But you gotta have that 500k thb , you should have that anyway as a backup
Anonymous ******************
lol ? Bro , do you meet the requirements?
Anonymous ******************
Look into the possibility of a sponsorship letter, which is an alternative for people who do not fulfil the financial requirements by themselves.

No, the requirements are just a guide. Explain to the consulate you promise to save 500k before the 5 years are up

you either have the 500k and get the DTV or you dont. simple as that… alternatively you do a year on ED and meanwhile save the money

The dtv doesnt look at your monthly income, rather requires a minimum of 500kthb savings. I would wait until you have that amount to apply.

I've seen people in the past ask to borrow their parents money to deposit into their savings to meet that requirement
John *******
Yes, it is a requirement, so if you want to apply for a DTV and be successful, you want to fulfill the requirements. As already mentioned, some embassies have earmarked the amount to local currency, sometimes using suspect conversions, equaling more than 500K. So if you are applying via a specific embassy, you will want to look at their requirements. Also some require 6 months in bank, some 3 months and some just at the end of last statement

Yes for DTV yes its required, if you are from any 35 plus nations you can visit thailand for 60 days free on visa exempt 1100 baht extension for 30 more days
Kevin ********
@Andrew *******
1900 for extension 😉
Jeremy *********
Seeing how it's mandatory then um yeah 🤦‍♂️😂
Jef ********
Yeah it’s not about how much you earn , it’s about the 500k in the account.

Then depending on the location you apply it could need to be in your account for 3 - 6 months.

I applied in Sydney and I transferred it the day before the application.

Also refer to your embassy that you apply at , because it will be an equivalent in your local currency ( and the exchange fluctuates) so you will probably need a bit more then 500k to be safe
