TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking guidance on whether they need to accumulate 500,000 baht in their bank account before applying for a Thai Digital Nomad Visa (DTV). The conversation reveals that having this amount is mandatory for the application process, as it serves as a financial requirement. Community members suggest potential solutions such as borrowing money temporarily or exploring sponsorship options, but emphasize the importance of meeting the official requirements to avoid rejection.

Can you borrow from a family member just to get the visa?

Yes

Well yea.

If it’s not in the bank, then you don’t meet the requirement

Simple as that

Borrow from someone. Get it transferred into an account then move it to the account you are using for the application, save the statement and send the money back. If you are in the UK it will work.

Sounds dodgy

lol ? Bro , do you meet the requirements?

Look into the possibility of a sponsorship letter, which is an alternative for people who do not fulfil the financial requirements by themselves.

No, the requirements are just a guide. Explain to the consulate you promise to save 500k before the 5 years are up

@Anna ********
not sure....

The dtv doesnt look at your monthly income, rather requires a minimum of 500kthb savings. I would wait until you have that amount to apply.

I've seen people in the past ask to borrow their parents money to deposit into their savings to meet that requirement

Yes, it is a requirement, so if you want to apply for a DTV and be successful, you want to fulfill the requirements. As already mentioned, some embassies have earmarked the amount to local currency, sometimes using suspect conversions, equaling more than 500K. So if you are applying via a specific embassy, you will want to look at their requirements. Also some require 6 months in bank, some 3 months and some just at the end of last statement
